((Well, this has been left for a while. Since nobody posted yet, I suppose I'll post. (I expected the owner to post first but I guess not)))
The voices jested, laughing at him as he ran, scrambling over ruins and flailing to gain his balance as he half tripped half ran across the clearing. The moon shone brightly with a crimson glow, a little too bright for his liking. His legs gave out when he jumped down a steep slope, scattering scree. The forest whispered it's silence, emphasizing the jests. He clenched his hands, not knowing why but just knew that it was the end. The end of him. A figure loomed before him.
With a start, he woke up. Sweat lined his forehead. Without knowing that he did it, Celco caught the end not of his terrified scream. Great, screaming like a baby in the middle of the night. Taking deep, controlled breaths, Celco forced himself to calm. His hands were shaking and when he wiped at his brow, his fingers came off wet with sweat. The evidence of a nightmare... But what did he dream about? Celco's heart started pounding again when he heard the creak of a door. His mind snapped away from the question and he strained his eyes against the darkness. A figure stood by the door, peering in. It was his mother, but something wasn't right. Maybe it was the translucent way she seemed, or maybe it was the way she stood swaying. Or maybe it was her high pitched voice when she spoke. "Are you alright, Cel?" It sounded more like a mock. He avoided his gaze. Celco nodded, hesitating. "Yeah, yeah I'm alri-" Celco glanced up before he finished his sentence. His breath caught, the last syllables lost. The figure of his mother wasn't there anymore.
