Delilah was admiditly unsure of how this would go but she trusted the mare to take care of lightning and not give him a hard time. She was glad she was scheduled to care for her today. As he took the rope and smiled she felt confident it would go well. He did what she told him to do. She watched as he held the mare and walked toward out of the stable. The sun shown brightly encasing them in a yellow glow. It was a hot day but it wasn't humid which didn't make it to bad. She felt something stiring. Maybe it was how he smiled, they way he held himself and talked. It was something she just didn't know yet. She shook it off and opened the stall door once more. "Copper" she said patiently and gently to the foal. He was not given a racing name yet nor a pet name,so she just called him copper. The foal was wild yet and anxious he was seperated from his mother. He was weaned but still enjoyed his mothers comfort and guidance over human touch. His little ears swiveled,he heard her but he wouldn't come. He backed toward the corner ready for flight or ready for a fight. Slowly she stepped closer to the foal. "Copper" she said again this time in a hushed voice letting him know she was not a threat. He started to read but came back down to earth. Inching her way closer she put her hand gently on his slim shoulders again she called out. He calmed down, she pulled her hand back and then put it out in front his muzzle. He breathed in, his wirey little fuzz on his muzzled tickled. He exhaled his warm breathe and calmed down, gingerly she slips the halter over his head. Belive it or not this is the easy part she sighed in her head. He was used to being haltered but still stubborn. Then she clasped the lead roap. She swung the large wood door open. Holding the lead at her hip she began to walk. The foal curious began walking but after walking from the door a small bird flew off somewhere startling the foal. His head jerked back and he was unwilling to move. She clucked to the foal whose coat gleamed in the light. She tugged and tugged. Finnaly he bagan walking again. They got out of the barn smoothly. He saw his mother and nickers when she answer back he bagan to want to take off. Delilah held tight and pulled back. She understood, the foal was doing well actually for first lead experiences. Finally she neared the mare. " open the gate, then walk her in and wait." she raised her voice enough for lighting to hear. The foal settled into a smooth rhythm next to her as they got closer to the mare. He tugged a little ahead but she held firm.
