"Oh, I'm sorry, did I interrupt your conversation?" Alex asked, smiling at his sister as he stood next to her. He flinched slightly when she smacked his arm, but didn't leave her alone. They were almost the typical siblings when it came to how they treated each other: loving one moment then hating the next, but it never got out of hand. Everyone here at the ball looked extravagant as he allowed his gaze to sweep over the floor, adjusting his mask slightly before turning his attention back to his sister.

"Oh just the simple pleasure of returning the favor," she said with a friendly smile, looking back at Alexander with a little smile. "Some people don't think that my brother is enough of a defense to stay away, sometimes you need a friend." She was willing to be a friendly ally for William, so long as she didn't have to spend too much time in the same company as both brothers. His affection for Seraph was borderline obsessive, and while she did find it somewhat attractive when a man cared about his family deeply, something was different about this relationship. She looked up at her brother and smiled broadly. "You are always a welcome addition to my conversations," she said.

"Oh, as I told Shiloh, I am very well," she replied, a certain coldness bleeding into her voice. He had a silvery voice with persuasive words that she knew would carry her off if she wasn't too careful around him. It happened to almost everyone that spoke with him. "My parents have several new contracts, and they have allowed me to help them with some of their work as well. And you, Prince Seraph?" She gave him a smile, but kept her voice level and somewhat detached. She was here to be Shiloh's friend and ally, not please a pampered prince, and she couldn't do both things.

"No, please it's alright," he insisted, giving her a small sympathetic smile. "Since both of the people we're waiting for are in the ballroom, what do you say we head up?" He crooked his arm and held it out for her to take, hoping that she would. Most of the servants had gone up already, looking to mingle with the nobility and royalty a bit, hoping to meet someone interesting. Chance simply enjoyed the night to dress up and pretend like he wasn't going to be dressing the prince every morning and evening.

Halt sighed as he exited his dressing room to go and see who had arrived for the ball. His mother and father were likely already greeting guests, but as the Crown Prince, he ought to be down there as well. He had just finished donning his black and green outfit, and put on his mask, and now was ready to go down and greet the guests. He let out another quiet sigh, he really never liked the balls. They were always boring and there was never anyone even remotely exciting to talk to or dance with. No one ever caught his eye, and no one ever made him enjoy himself, so what was the point? This year, he'd have to choose someone to marry, though, and his parents were expecting him to find a nice lady to settle down with and produce an heir to the throne. He didn't want that, though. As against sexual relationships as Halt was, he was not even remotely excited for this ball, and while a romance would be nice, perhaps, Halt was not interested in getting married - definitely not now. He had arrived at the front gates by this point, and was waiting there to greet whoever came to speak to him.

Alexander caught sight of two women entering the room, and decided that they would be as good as anyone to hold conversation with, and walked over, still holding his glass of wine. "Good evening ladies," he said giving them each a respectful nod of the head. "Welcome to Dypressia, although I'm sure that you've been to one of our masquerades before, though I can't say I know you're 'faces'." He said with a little laugh at his own joke, wondering how they would react to it. Usually if he couldn't make someone laugh with cheesy jokes then he found that their company was less than interesting for him.

"thank you. quite a party you're hosting," eliza remarked, not laughing at his joke and instead narrowing her eyes a little. she wasn't one to lighten up, always on her guard. "nice mask, as well, very... well, masks are all mysterious."

rose giggled, "pleased to meet you, i'm rose," she dropped into a little curtsey to be polite; seeing that eliza was verging on being childish, rose gestured to her, "this is eliza, she's pleased to meet you too."

Alexander, or Damien as he preferred to be called, smiled at his sister as he looked at William saying, "Pleasure to meet you again William. You've grown quite a bit since I last saw you and your brother." He placed a gentle protective hand on his sister's shoulder, gently rubbing her arm for a moment before folding his hands behind his back.

(Going to have Alex called Damien so we don't get the two of them mixed up. It's his middle name so it'll work.)

"It's a pleasure to be aquainted with you both, I'm Alexander," he said with a smile, mostly directed at Rose. "Thank you, but yes that is part of the point of the masquerade," he said bowing his head a little, then taking a sip of his wine. "The mystery and beauty of the night where no is truly every entirely themselves. It's part of what I believe keeps ours kingdoms in an alliance, that we get these three nights a year to let go of our inhibitions to a certain extent." He was great believer in the masquerade and it's ability to help people built relationships among other kingdoms.

"Yes well not everyone's twenty four and not liable to grow anymore Dami," she said, poking his arm and calling him by a nickname she had given him when they were very young. "Don't worry too much about it, he says the same thing to me and we live under the same roof," she said directing her attention back to William after the momentary distraction her brother had created. "How have you been lately? I must admit I don't think I've seen you since .... well this time last year." She took a moment and looked around the ball room, taking in the the warm golden glow that the whole evening seemed to be giving off.
