When the girl defended her dog, Derrick gave something of a casual shrug. "I just didn't want him biting me or something," he nearly muttered, eying the dog with an inward hate. He swore, if this girl was the kind of girl to let her dog sleep in her bed and live in her room, he was going to drop her faster than a hot potato. Because all dogs with girls like that had the same problem: possessiveness. And it was stupid. He looked down at the girl's dirtied shoes as she giggled and looked down to them. "Yeah, hope those weren't expensive." He grinned, knowing that they were just running shoes. "Anyway, I don't know much about you, but I'm not gonna lie. You're kinda pretty. So, I'm Derrick, and I'm really hoping you'll tell me your name." Straightforward as ever, Derrick plowed right through the basics, eager to see if the girl would remain receptive of him.

Lisette could tell the Desmond was tossed out into a heaving sea of conflict upon hearing her words. She hadn't meant to shove him in so deeply, but she knew she couldn't very well reach in, pull him out, and dry him off. He seemed far too withdrawn into his singular struggle to notice her, and she knew that it would be incredibly foolish to take back her words. Obviously, they had been affective enough to put him in some place where he was battling with considerations, and although she had hoped unreasonably that he would have no trouble in accepting her words, she would accept his struggles if they turned out to be for the better. So, with much patience, Lisette kept a small, welcoming upturn to her lips as her hopeful gaze watched him.
Finally, he spoke, and his single word, no matter how it was breathed out with such bitter resentment, was a massive relief to Lisette's heart. All of the sudden, she was beaming. "Really?" she cried. "Oh, that is great!" She would have hugged him, but she remembered how he had pulled away when she had merely touched his shoulder. She stood up, prepared to tell him to come on, but then he said something that took her off guard. She froze as soon as she was standing straight, her expression blank for a moment as she tried to process his request. And then she paled, her whole beaming expression melting away. She looked down at him in unmasked horror. "You want me to...shift?" she asked, suddenly timid.
