I thought for a moment and made my decision. "Fine, I'll stay, but only because I hate science," I say to him, still wondering how Kailen would feel if he knew we were hanging out together. It's for my own good, I could use some time to learn how to use my powers.

"Great, now where should we start." I say and look around, thinking what might be the easiest of the fire tricks I know. "Alright, lets start with combinations of elements. When you take only a small amout of one element, lets say water, and a large amout of another element, for us thats fire, the fire dominates, but it takes on the characteristics of the second element."

I tried to stop myself but I couldn't. Even after all of this time with Kailen, when I heard the word water I still couldn't help but wince. He could have picked any other element, but he just had to say water. I nodded though because I understood, I had experienced it before. "Just like what Kailen and I had tried," I mumble. We had combined our powers before and got this pretty weird ice sculpture shaped as fire, though when you still touched it, it could burn you.

"Not exactly what I was going for, but yea. Two users can create something inbetween the two elements, usually solid sculptures. What I meant was this." I bend down to my bag that I had left on the ground and took out a bottle of water. Pouring some of the water onto my hand I let out a breath, concentrating and soon feel warmth in my palm as the water had changed into a lava-like liquid. It was red and hot like fire but it poured like water.

I couldn't help it but I jumped at the sight of water. Stop acting like a wimp Rebecca, get it a grip. It's just water. I watched him pour the water into his hand and I tried to clam my nerves. "Cool," I said but my voice was a little shaky. He could just as easily pour the water on you. Stop it, shut up mind, Jace is my friend, or at least he is friendly to me, he wouldn't do that.

"Well, since water isnt exactly your strong side, maybe you could practice with earth for now" I say, putting the water away as I notice her reaction. The fire dragon is sitting on the pavement only a few meters away, watching us, but I am slowly letting go of the bond, making him soon disappear. I then take some earth from the grass that bordered the parking lot and offer it to her. "See what you can do with it."

"I would have been just fine with the water," I say to him arrogantly but I was secretly relieved that he put it away. I take pile of dirt from him and hold it in my hand. As I concentrate my eye color changed from hazel to red and the ends of my hair lit on fire just like every other time I used my powers for more than a small flame. I watched as the dirt turned to a fiery reddish-orange color but it kept the dirt's consistency. "Like that?" I asked him.

"Yeah, thats pretty good for a first try. Youre a fast learner. Its all about concentration." I bend down and touch the pavement with my hands. Soon a crack appears in the ground and fire bursts out from underground, in a geysir-like way.

I shake my head in protest. "Yeah, no, not a fast learner, just good at concentrating. I just focus on all my anger and the fire comes naturally, so basically I just have to think of my mother." I say to him and smile.

"You should really talk that stuff out with your mother, and believe me, thats good advice." I say with a small smile, closing up the crack in the ground.
