Mr. Brashear-Aquarius-Tagged: English
Mr. Brashear sighed. He knew the signs- low muttering, people even turning to each other. He didn't mind talking in class, usually, but he wanted them to be interested in what occurred. "Well, I didn't have much of a lesson plan for today." He admitted. "But perhaps you'd be interested in a really good story." Being an Aquarius, he'd known he needed materials to do anything interesting. A huge block of clay, which he had used before, though he thought it was crude, soared over his desk and landed with a small thud in front of him. "This is how my favorite teacher started out class when I was a boy." He commented. "Once upon a time, the whole world was just an egg. Within the egg was one chaotic mass. Heaven, Earth, and everything were identical." As he spoke, a ball of clay rose, swirling not-patterns designing themselves on the surface, total chaotic movement. "Then Pangu, the first being, was formed, and decided to bring order to the universe. First, he broke open the egg." The tiny shape of a man pushed apart the ball of clay from within. The lighter part, the yang, rise and became heaven, whilst the heavier yin sank and became the earth." The halves of the egg flattened with the figure of Pangu crouching in the small space between. "Pangu could not stand up, so no living things could form. Therefore he began to push the sky upward, and after eighteen thousand years he could stand." The figure stood and grew, the small hands pushing the sky upwards. "During this time he could eat only mist, and he never slept. When he was done, he was naturally very tired, so he went to sleep and promptly died." The clay figurine lay down, the clay of his body blending with the earth-plane. "Pangu's head, feet, body, and arms formed the mountains of the East, West, Center, North and South respectively." The shape of Pangu changed accordingly. "These five mountains became the new pillars of the sky, now that Pangu was dead. His hair became the planets and stars, his eyes the sun and moon, his flesh the soil and his blood the waters. His bones and teeth are the rocks and minerals, his breath the clouds, his voice lightning and thunder, his sweat rain and dew. His parasites became animals of both land and sea." He finished, with his block of clay now a beautifully detailed landscape. "Do I have your attention now?" He asked with a small smile.
All that is gold does not glitter;
not all those who wander are lost;
the old that is strong does not wither;
deep roots are not reached by the frost.
