Mira & Chance
Relieved that her canine companion wasn't about to bounce and bound over to the new wolf- Kain, if she heard the elder correctly, it was only then that her attention returned to the conversation. The reprimand had only taken a few seconds, at most, so she hadn't missed much, only the body language and facial expressions which might cue her in on the younger male's opinion of her temporary stay. Even with that, however, she was a bit blindsided by Triko's next sentence. A distressed whine was barely caught in time, her gaze darting towards the elder in confirmation that no, she hadn't misheard. He really did think it would be a good idea to throw her off the deep end, flailing in the air as the water neared at an alarming pace. Sure she had agreed to meet the pack beforehand, but she'd been under the impression that would be with him- someone who'd already earned some measure of her trust, rather than being delegated to a stranger who might only be acting civil because of the elder's presence.
"If she wants me to. I have no problem with that. It's nice to meet you Mira." He didn't
sound sarcastic, she thought perplexed. If she didn't know just how grievously insulting it would be to think, let alone ask, she might of enquired if his nose was working right. As it was, it was all she could do to blink at him with a woefully accurate deer-in-headlights look as he shifted the box -a perfectly reasonable excuse- around so as to offer her a hand to shake. Her head flopped to one side, starring at the male's offered hand as though it the most bizarre thing she'd seen in a long time, before glancing towards the greying wolf uncertainly. Maybe she was hallucinating? Two in one day seemed unreal after years on the contrary, and it would certainly look odd to not only the humans, but anyone observing if she suddenly started shaking hands with thin air. Chance, by fate or design- she didn't know which, finally lost his patience and in the process helped cover up her slip. Striding forward without a care for the alarmed look she shot him, the canine rose up to sit on his haunches right in front of the amber eyed wolf. His paw raised to meet the lupine's hand, her canine companion let out a cheerful bark in greeting, tail wagging along the dusty ground. Though his twitching nose gave way to his intentions, drinking in the unfamiliar scent as he ventured to pick apart the various components.
"Make that three
weeks of nothing but birds." She hissed as a mortified blush stole across her face, both at Chance's actions and upon the realization of how rude her gawking had been. Hesitantly she stepped out from Triko's shadow, nervous and wary as she gingerly moved forward to take the canine's place, watching attentively for the slightest sign of hostility. The shepherd whined at her, not believing his actions deserved an entire day more of punishment- the earlier twenty having been earned for his unauthorized and unsupervised deer hunt. Birds were his least favorite prey, tricky to catch and tricky to eat, and Mira capitalized on his distaste for the fragile, feathered, fowl whenever he misbehaved. She couldn't exactly carry him around by the scruff much, anymore.
"My apologies, sir, for both his blunder and mine." She offered with an awkward dip of her head; "-And just so long as you're certain it wouldn't be a hassle, a tour sounds lovely." She had promised Triko she'd meet the pack, after all, and even if said tour was only of the town rather than a meet-and-greet with the pack, Kain was almost certainly a part of the pack.
