(Gtg to bed guys--night!)
All around him they were appearing, the very reason he's come here in the first place. Rasha's eyes lit up. Turner's group were outnumbered, he and Be'Leya were safe. He staggered to his feet, ignoring the other three Zeranorians.
"Any of you willing to risk making a run for it?"
His eyes widened and he whirled around. "What?! No, Be'Leya, they are why we came here! Were safe now, Aronan won't let these brutes hurt us!" He turned around and grinned widely. "Right, Aronan?"
From among the group a tall figure emerged, sweeping back a cloak. He was similar to the others, yet different too. For one thing, he looked more... Real, and his form wasnt static, either. But there was a fiery white glow where his eyes should have been, like the others, and he seemed almost a part of the darkness itself. There was a heavyness to his brows and a curl to his lips that suggested that he had never smiled, or at least, not for a long time. His eyes were heavily lidded, almost condescending. He swept past Rasha and stood above John. His thin lips twitched.
"How the mighty have fallen. You come to snatch away my friend?"
"Aronan, please!" John said, clinging to Gen's shoulder as he rose painfully from the ground. "He's just a kid! He doesn't know what he's doing!"
"Oh, and I guess that excuses all behavior, doesn't it, John?" His eyes narrowed, the lines in his aquiline face hardening. John frowned and pressed his fingers to the bridge of his nose.
"Don't change the subject. I won't let you take him. Command knows what you're doing, and already they're moving to stop you. All Anorians are being cordoned in the Capitol under heavy guard, you'd never get through to them."
Aronan curled his lip and took a step forward. "At least I'll have one more."
Rasha's smile began to slip. "What... What do you mean?" But he said no more. Kethone had crept around behind Aronan and grabbed his arm, then Be'Leya's.
"Stay close if you want to live, Rasha." His hissed, the turned to Be'Leya, and apologetic expression on his face. "Sorry about this."
"About what?"
"This!" John replied shoving Aronan hard, and leaping towards them, dragging Gen behind him with his good arm, raising the other with a groan, to his face and speaking into what looked like a watch attached to his wrist.
"Remea, now, now, NOW!"
Nothing happened.
The negatives converged around their leader, then swooped silently towards the little group, their white pinpoint eyes glowing hungrily.
Then the Lincoln memorial, the reflecting pool, the trees, the park, and the Negatives, dissolved, and were replaced by the hard edged, metallic surroundings of the inside of a star ship.
