However we, the merfolk, are nothing like you humans imagined, we don't live a carefree life, there is no perfect 'Atlantis' for us to go to. No we have bills to pay too, but on top of that we have territories to defend, and true secrets to keep.
Merfolk live in large homes in a family group near the ocean, while they aren't all related we are all close and like a family to eachother, we assume the roll of humans during the day and swim at night. The family group has a lead male or female, he or she is responsible for defending the territory from rogue merfolk hoping to push the family out of their home.
As merfolk we also have strict rules;
The leaders word is law, and can't be challenged unless seeking to challenge the leader for position.
Don't reveal what you are.
Live with the humans, but don't love one or take one as your mate.
The rules seem simple right? But what happens when we can't seem to follow them....
Plot: You are either a human or a merfolk, if your a human you go through life as a normal human, except you aren't ignorant of the fact there are mermaids. A human can either be a friend to them, or a hunter. Merfolk go through their own lives living as they have for centuries, until some rules are broken and the merfolk and humans worlds collide.
Rules:
1.No godmoding
2. If you chose to make two characters please make different genders unless I give you permission to do otherwise.
3.Romance is encouraged but please don't take it past pg-13 on the thread.
4. If you make a mer-character please read the guidelines.
5. If you read all the rules put fin in the other section of your character form.
6. Please not all teenage characters make some adult characters as well.
7. Do not join if you aren't going to be active!

Humans-
Merfolk guide-The merfolk in this roleplay have three forms: a human, merfolk, and fish form. The merfolk is half fish half human, but it's tail is not just pasted to it's waist, it will have fins and scales on it's back, arms, face etc etc. The half fish part is the same species as the fish it turns into, think of it like this; Human>Human specific fish(clownfish, lionfish, swordfish,etc)>fish. Merfolk have both claws and sharp teeth in their merfolk form. Culturally a male with an injury will treat his own injury, healing a merman is a sign of affection, the same for females.
