I was going to write a nice thing, but since it's late and i'm not very good at writing these things anyway, i'll just give you the lowdown:
there is a research facility located just a short jog from an expanse of sandy beach, where qualified humans study our aquatic counterparts living in that, beautiful, unforgiving mass that is our ocean. however the race of merpeople living in the area have been getting quite... comfortable. they are moving in closer and are being spotted more during field research. but now the biggest question on everyone's mind is what are we going to do about it?
)in this thing you can be a human or a merperson, but right now I would like a limit of 2 characters per person for the time being, you can have two of the same species or one of each, but lets try and keep a nice balance going for now uvu (I may extend the character limit at some point, I just don't want things getting crazy)
)drama and romance (of all kinds/sexualities ovo) are allowed! but lets make sure it doesn't get too out of hand
)use parentheses/brackets/etc. when speaking in OOC
)I would like nice posts with proper spelling and grammar, I know everyone makes mistakes, so it's okay if you mess up, and you can be lazy with capitalization (except where appropriate, like when stating someone's name)
)I would also like about 3-5 sentences in each post/reply, it's easier to keep things moving like that uvu"
)there are no limits to character forms, go crazy, but make sure they provide the information needed (in enough detail) at the least
)be nice, don't power-play, etc. this is supposed to be fun ;v;
)follow all of the chickensmoothie rules!! this is (obviously) the most important thing!!

guide for humans;;
)these guys are just researching (at first) so any kind of romantic intentions should be a progress throughout the thing, for humans, inter-species things are not going to be taken lightly at first
)human-merpeople interaction should be more like "deer in the headlights" encounters, both are unsure and frightened, and overtime interaction gets easier
)all sexualities, gender identities, races/nationalities, etc. are welcome !! ovo
guide for merpeople;; (this one is a little more extensive)
)interactions with humans should be similar to as described in the human guide
)these guys can have things like unusually colored eyes, different teeth structure, body markings, etc. some of the "body modifications" could even be cultural
)the merpeople have gills, and some might have fins (like on their backs), and their ears might be more fin-like (note: seadwelling trolls)
)their tails can be the common fish tail (which of course can vary greatly in appearance, color, style, etc.) or it can be more like octopus tentacles or shark tails. basically; the tail half of their bodies can vary
)their personalities/behavior differ from humans because of how they live, some of these differences should be distinct
)these guys probably have a wider range of skin tones than humans, so we can have more diversity there ovo
)really the only more personal things that need to be noted with these guys is name, gender, age, and sexuality, the forms for merpeople are probably going to be more for physical description
