"I'm a river nymph." Hope told him "But I work for the queen." Hope hadn't visited her real home for a while actually. She looked at the guy carefully. "What about you?" She asked him "You look human but I think you must have powers of some sort

"Oh, me? I'm nothing special. I'm just a bit of a shapeshifter." Gale knew that he couldn't lie, but he also couldn't tell her he was a trickster. Most people ran away from that knowledge and left him without any fun. Besides, it's not like he was lying, just hiding not saying everything. Loopholes were great.

Hope grinned "What do you shaeshift into?" She asked her curiosity showing. She was glad there was someone to talk to as though she had been given a long time to shop as soon as she finishe buying everything she would have to go back to the palacd and get another job.

"A cat. Yeah I know it's a little lame." Gale replied. He was wondering what kind of mischief he could get into at the palace. Just the very thought of it made him smile.

Hope laughed "It's not that lame. Cats can get around without being noticed and have excellent night vision. They have sharp claws, excellent hunting skills and can jump high and can fall quite big distances witgout getting hurt. What more do you want?"

Gale shrugged. "How about the fact that everybody either takes cats too seriously, or not seriously at all. There is no in between." It was true. People either chased him away, or tried to take him with them at just about any cost. He shuddered.

"There's probably some advantage to that somewhere!" She told him seeing if she could find one "What's it like, shifting? Doe it hurt?" She asked, She ha never met a shifter before and was interested in what it was like.

Gale shook his head. "Nah man, it's as natural as breathing. I suppose it is for me anyways, being born a shifter. The only time I heard of a shifter who hurt to shift, was one who wasn't born one."

"Oh," Hope said "Could you maybe show me your cat form?" She asked. She was interested in all magic even though she was magical herself. She liked to learn about all the different types and kept a large number of books on the subject in her room in the palace.
