millions are dead. the bodies of strangers, humans, littered the streets like
a grotesque Halloween decoration; or what you'd imagine one to be like.
there were plenty of books at the library about old human celebrations
which had no direct meaning. in the end, they all ended up dead; or
most of them.
the deseise affected the elderly and the children first, sending them into
a ravenous state which made family turn against one another, dementia
causing the species to slowly kill off one another simply because they were
always hungry, and there was never enough food. never. it hit the adults
last, and we thought we were safe. I mean, hello? we're already freaks as
it is. but once it finished eating away at every human it could reach, the virus
embedded itself into werewolf dna. the epidemic is sweeping the nation,
and has been for years. a group of trained scientists found and isolated a
select group of werewolves, unaffected by this worldwide pandemic
and forced them all into a large softwood forest called the compound.
the thing about the compound is, once you're in you never get out.
now, don't get me wrong. it's not too bad in the full forests; but the
reasoning that they put you there is what is nerve wracking and quite
ubsurd. you are to find a mate, procreate, and rebuild society in the
one safe place that hasn't, and never will be ravaged by deseise. the
barrier is for your safety. there is nothing beyond the barrier. do not
try to escape. there is no leaving the compound, dead or alive.
