Vecili's eyes softend, which frightend Sukka more. "No, I'm not. You think I hate you don't you?"

Sukka hesitated. "Yes..."

Vecili chuckled. "Well, you'd be wrong."

"You don't?" Sukka didn't believe her and it was obvious.

"No," Vecili sighed. "Look. I love your brother, thats why I'm his mate, but Van also loves you. You're his brother, his family, and by extent you're my family too. Family is a big deal to me, and I would give my life to protect my family..."

"Oh..." Sukka looked down.

Vecili shrugged. "You don't have to like me, nor do I expect you to. We can continue to torment each other for all I care. But I do have to ask you something."

Merrik grinned.

Gabriel smiled back. "So, you two had fun huh?"

Uri grinned and hugged Hugo tighter.

Marie stood up and took some bowls to the sink.

Scarlette nodded and held out her hand. "How do my nails look?"

Hugo hugged her back gently.

Merrik ate his now cold soup quickly, and then joined MArie at the sink.

"Perfect. Just like you." Gabriel kissed her cheek.

Uri sighed happily. She could feel it now understood the feeling was their child growing within her. It was strange, but comforting.

"What is that?" Sukka asked still untrusting.

"That you protect our family. Van and our baby, my brothers and father, Destini. Protect them to the end just as I would." Vecili spoke clearly, and made sure he knew she was serious.
