Opal jumps down from the tree and shrugs "It's not like she chose to be a jeweled." Opal laughs, his cold eyes hard. "She begged you, pleaded you, but all you did was put her six feet under ground." He laughs harder.

"It's true, she didn't choose to be... like that, but my parents did choose to kick me out and love the freak. My young self could find nobody to blame but Lissa. Anyway, it's not like I knew I'd kill her. She had a good chance, it was only bad luck of hers that killed her." I know I'm groping for a way to blame anyone but myself, but I can't just accept what I did.

[horror.]

Opal shrugged "It's none of my business anyway..." He looks up "Isn't the people that work with you going to be mad?"

Placing both mice in her spacious overall pockets, she walked down the alley to the main marketplace, a kind mien around her. Passing the cart owners, they all smiled warmly at her- she had been overly kind to them over the years so that no one would suspect her as a Jeweled. Keeping her identity hidden was easy, but the loneliness that came from staying apart from the world was heavy on her shoulders.

"They will be, and they'll send someone else, and someone else will come back to them with the same message." I continue walking away, hoping I'll actually get away without another creepy comment.

[horror.]

"You can run away from me, yes. But you can't run away from your problems." Opal leans against the tree, a slight breeze ruffled his hair.

Summer jumped giving a little screech before she took her hand to her mouth. She grabbed her necklace on one hand and tried to reach for a tree. She stared a little bit at the two figures until she got the courage to speak. "Hello" she said weakly, Summer examined them both. This man didn't look like he was a jewel hunter but she still kept her distance.

“Hi." I said looking at her noticing that she was clutching something around her neck. “If you're a jewel, then don't worry. I don't hunt jewels." I shrugged hoping it would help her relax more.

Summer looked down at her necklace, she let go of it. Her eyes were still urgent and scared. She still kept her hand on the tree and looked at the pair "how can I know for sure?" She asked softly. She didn't really believe he was a hunter since he had this small child with him but she was just cautious. It wasn't fun being chased to your death.

Grabbing a loaf of bread from a vendor and paying, Nessa broke off small sections for her companions to eat. Taking a bite herself, she waved at a little girl passing by with a dog in her arms. Walking into the countryside near the market square, she entered a willow tree forest. Taking another bite of the toasted bread, she listened to the birds calling from the trees. Whistling back, she asked one of the birds to fly down. That's what her Jeweled power allowed her to do- speak to the living creatures. Shooting from the trees came a light brown hawk with a dark crest of feathers on its head. Alighting on her shoulder, it voiced to her that she wanted some bread. Holding up the loaf to the beautiful bird of prey, she smoothed down its back feathers calmly.

"Maybe you're right, but if nobody's gonna remind me of my problems, I can do it pretty well." By now I'm almost out of earshot, and really hoping he won't follow me.
