(( According to Law Library, " In 1794 the Pennsylvania legislature passed a bill recognizing the difference between first-degree murder (a deliberate and planned act to kill) that received the death penalty, and second-degree murder (an unplanned or accidental killing) that called for imprisonment." Because of his elevated social status for killing a werewolf, Beckett's murder would naturally attract the attention of local law enforcement. There would be an investigation but suspicion would depend on the obvious cause of death, presumably by mauling by a werewolf or knife wound from one of Sara's kunai. If Sara kills him, she and Ben would be targeted since they both have motives( revenge for the death of a loved one at Beckett's hands), and access to possible murder weapons. If Killian kills him, they'll make the connection between his and Kai's recent arrivals and the fact it's the first werewolf attack in the town since the incident with Ben's parents.
Kai assumes that Killian is going to kill Beckett, which will then draw attention, leading to them both being found out as "werewolves", and then end with them being publicly executed.))
