Derrick was wondering what on Earth happened at her work, but then she offered for him to feel the baby. He hesitated, he didn't know if that was something he was ready to do, but he was going to be the father of this child so he slowly put his hand to her stomach. He felt the baby kick and he jumped and a grin went across his face. Must be wonderful to carry life inside you. He thinks.

" I do kinda know what its like to be on your own though, mom would have to leave me for long periods of time on my own because if her work. There was an elderly lady that lived near us that would look after me when I was little and when I got older we kinda ended up looking after each other some. She died last spring; naturally." The woman had been more like a grandmother to him she had even had him call her Nanna.

She saw his smile as he felt the child moving inside her. "Its neat hunh?" Smiling back up at him. "It moves around a lot, you can ask if you want to feel it anytime.. Also the baby can hear us talking, thats weird right?" She was going to a prenatal class and a parenting class that were free through one of the local community centres, she wanted to invite him to join her but didn't want to put pressure on him over it either.
