Aurora was smiling like a fool as she led Neron through the arctic waters. He had accepted her hand, and she was enjoying every second of the small physical contact. As they swam through the ocean, trailing after Aippaq, the pair passed a few of the underwater caves Aurora had played in during her youth. If they felt particularly, off, to her, the Siren didn't notice it. Finally, her family's distinct calls reached Aurora's ears. She squealed a bit, not bothering to contain her excitement anymore, and squeezed Neron's hand before practically sprinting towards them, Neron in tow. Aurora could hardly wait... their silhouettes could be seen in the distance, and Aurora could just start deciphering who was who among the faraway shapes. She squeezed Neron's hand again, and turned glanced over at him, a giant, ridiculous grin on her face.
"Can you see them! Oh, they're all there! This is going to be wonderful!" Aurora slowed down a bit, so instead of racing ahead of Neron, she was swimming by his side. Their hands were still interlocked, and Aurora took a few moments to try and calm her mounting excitement. Do do so, she concentrated on Neron's hand intertwined with her own. With a small start, she realized something that, for some reason, had completely slipped her mind before. While his grip was strong and steady, it seemed, to Aurora, that it wasn't very warm... more like that of a fish than the constant warmth that emanated from the whales. I must have just wrote it off as his scales being cooler... but what if he is cold-blooded, that would account for the lack of warmth... and, as Aurora thought on it, she realized that being cold-blooded would have also explained why, as they neared colder waters, he slowed down a bit. This train of thought did serve to put a dent, albeit a small one, in Aurora's excitement. How could she have been so blind? Now, more that ever, Aurora felt overwhelming gratitude for Neron accompanying her, and started to ponder on ways to make it up to him. She would also think about asking him about her theory later on... But now, her excitement was brought back as the two of them swam into a circle of whales, all ready to greet them. Aippaq was floating a little ways off, beaming at the two of them, and letting the family pod get their chance of greeting Aurora and welcoming Neron. Since her family seemed only a bit surprised by Neron's presence, Aurora guessed that her friend had informed them ahead of her and Neron's arrival. Nevertheless, the two of them were greeted by jubilant cries and many affectionate nudges from the large whales.
