"Well, if you'd like, I'll gladly be spontaneous and randomly give you a nice roundhouse kick to the jaw, if that'll make you happy." As she spoke, her smirk grew. "I have no problem with doing so."

Eli shrugged and roed his eyes, "Whatever. Im used to it." he muttered. If anyone looked closely, they would see his jaw was already a little crooked.

A little curious, Gray rolled over onto her stomach, propping herself up on her elbows. Blades of grass fell out of her hair, while some had managed to tangle themselves up. "What do you mean?"

Eli sighed quietly and shrugged slightly, "Im used to being hit and kicked. My mom used to beat me everyday so.. y'know.. Im used to it.." he lightly touched a scar that ran down his left cheek, down to his jaw. He got that scar when he was five and his mom and pulled a knife on him.

Gray's expression turned shocked, with her eyes wider and her eyebrows lifted. "Oh..." Her face fell a little bit. "That, uh... That sucks." She spoke quietly, and she wasn't quite sure what to say. "I'm sorry... for, uh... for what your mom did..." She pushed herself off of her stomach until her legs were tucked underneath her. Okay, out of all the people in he world, I must be one of the worst at comforting people. I swear, Gray...

[xiao.]

Eli just nodded a little and looked down, furrowing his brows. He rubbed his scarred knuckles as he plucked blades of grass and flicked thrm away.

"You must not be getting along too well with that grass." Gray said, nodding to his hand that was ripping it out of the ground, able to feel the awkward silence starting. Naturally she was to resort to some kind of humor, since that's how she always did things. "I totally get it, grass is a b****.

Eli raised a brow and glanced up at her, before shoving his hands in his pockets. He huffed and got up quietly, staggering over to his dirty shirt and picking it up. Wrapping it around his arm, he went back to the tree and flopped down on the ground again.

"Okay then." Gray fell backwards and folded her hands under her head, exhaling slowly. Note to self: learn some socialization techniques. Apparently sarcasm can only last so long.
