River Zales
She had been making her way to the palace where she was supposed to meet her sister when she heard the cries for help. She looked startled for a moment and just stood there, unsure of what to do. It then hit her that someone could be in serious trouble and she didn't have time to just stand around. River sprinted off in the direction the yelling was coming from, hoping she wouldn't get to late. She came to a sort of dead end and carefully peeked around the corner to see what was going on. There was a big hulking figure pinning another man to the ground and... River let out a silent gasp when she saw the knife. River started to panic a little trying to figure out what to do and began rummaging through her bag frantically. Most everything in there would put the boy in some sort of danger as well. She pulled out a gigantic wrench that hardly seemed like it should have fit in the bag in the first place. River took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down before slipping out from around the corner and making her way towards the men in silence. The attackers back was turned to her and she stopped about three feet behind him and raised the wrench above her head.
"Hey!" She shouted, right before the wrench started hurtling towards the mans head with the help of gravity

The instant the knife fell from his throat he let out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding.
That was to close..this is really starting to get out of hand.. He thought to himself looking over to his attacker now laying limp beside him before he dragged his eyes up to see a girl he slightly recognized from around town.
He propped himself up on his elbows rubbing the sore back of his head finding a good sized gash from hitting the ground hard,
"T-thanks." He stammered wincing a bit as he stood brushing off his clothes, " I didn't think anyone would be out this way today.."
He was terrible with thank yous or communicated to people at all and found his cheeks heating up greatly in the situation.

River
She shrugged and smiled awkwardly, glancing down at the fallen man and wondering if he was dead or just out cold. The thought of actually killing someone made her shiver and she was to scared to check.
"Welcome. I was just heading toward the palace when I heard you." River said with a frown as she looked back at Skyler.
"Oh god, your bleeding. Let's get you some help." She said before taking his hand and starting to lead him away from where the attack had occurred .

He felt his vision spin as they took off and gave his head a slight shake shivering as he felt blood drip down the back of his neck. They burst in through the front doors a shock going through his bare feet as he walked on the cooling garnet floor of the palace. He took his hand back from River as hired help began to wander out curious by the noise of the door bursting open,
" I get the notion you don't know who I am." He said raising a eyebrow at her as he gave a small smirk.
A larger lady dressed in a oldschool maid's outfit rushed over taking Skye off his feet as he hugged him tightly,
" You shouldn't worry your nurse-maid like that My lord! I thought you had been kidnapped again!...Oh gosh your bleeding! Come, Come now I need to tend to your before the ball later on Sire" She began pushing skyler down the corridor as as protested he was fine,
" Sorry!..Maybe I'll see you later?" He said back to river clearly not wanting to leave his rescuer suddenly without even knowing her name.

River
She gave a sort of feeble wave as it dawned on her who the man had been.
"River!" Someone shouted before she could think to much on it. The young woman spun aroun to see her sister, a noblewoman, running towards her. Her sister took her hands in hers before realizing the one not covered by a glove had Skylars blood on it from when she took him hand. She glanced over rivers shoulder just before the others left.
"What in the world is going on?" Her sister whisper shouted, meeting Rivers eyes. River just sort of shrugged still looking stunned by what had just happened. Her sister looked exhasperated but not suprised.
"Come along. You can tell me when you find your toungue." Her sister muttered as she led River out to the garden

Skyler
after a grueling 10 minutes of being fussed over he was finally able to leave the infirmary now dressed handsomely in a suit his white jacket handing over his arm as he finished buttoning the grey stripped vest, one thing he would not let his caretakers due was dress him, after all he was a grown man one wanted to keep certain things to themselves.A silvery crown decorated his head sitting just above the stitches his thick hair covered. The metal was shaped in elaborate swirls ending in what seemed to be thorns on top doned with sapphires and rubies. Gazing out a tall window he looked out across the city with a grim expression as he watched the happy people wander the streets or watching as the clouds drifted by below them unaware of the dangerous land they walked on.
"If only my father was hear.." He said to himself eyes filling for once with a brief sense of grief

River
It had taken her awhile to be able to find words again but eventually her sister and her chatty noble friends squeezed the story out of her. Once they had that they practically ignored her and babbled on madly, at first about the horrible episode with the King but then about practically anything else. River reclined on the ground and stared up at the lovely castle, wondering if the women would just keel over and die if they stayed quiet for over a minute. She loved her older sister, but these visits her family insisted on were boring at best. River let her mind wander to why that man had attacked the king in the first place, and why hadn't the king told her who he was? It was rather humiliating how familiar and awkward she had been with him. River sighed and tried not to think about any of that. Instead she just hope that he would be ok.

A message runner set out from the castle doors a bag full of tonight's invites slung over his shoulder he started with the nobles closest to the castle then set out through the streets which had been turned golden like the clouds hovering above them from the sunset. River's Sister was one of the first to get a invite,
" Excuse me mad'am I have your invite to a party later this afternoon." He said with a bow to her offering her invite, the theme of the party was : Fire&Ice

He walked the long, for now, empty ballroom studying the floor beneath him where turning cogs and gears spun forming part of the large underground system that kept the city in the sky. Though the more he focused the more he spotted small wisps of black smoke curling around the mechanisms.

River
She looked up as her sister took the invitation with her dainty little hands. River watched sisters eyes flit about the invitation before she gave the messenger a gracious smile.
"Thank you sir, I'll be attending with my sister tonight. I'm afraid Lord Chancy has taken ill." Her sister said with a pitiful look. River couldn't remember the last time Lord Chancy was well. In other news she wasn't a huge fan of parties. She always struggled with being social and so it was only natural she would be miserable at events held. For the sole purpose of being social. She wondered if her sister was punishing her for something. More likely though, she was trying to find River a rich husband which was actually worse in her eyes. She loved her sister but she'd been trying to set her up with her noble friends all year and each one had been a bigger disaster than the last. River just closed her eyes, knowing that it was useless to protest against her sisters wishes.

As the first of the guests arrived Skye stood by the doorway greeting each of them with a bow his gray hair had been frosted white for tonights theme it matches well with his white and grey suit but made his eyes stick out brightly colored rubies.
"Good afternoon lord an lady Telford ." He managed the best smile he could but both of them had a look of disgust on their faces as they looked Skye over the idea of a leader as young as him unnerving to them.
