Ana looked up at Stephanie with a serious look, tears in her eyes. "Would that not be heartbreaking to You?" She asked in disbelief.

Stephanie
She said nothing for a while. "Are you done?" She asked softly.

Ana took a deep yet uneasy breath, to keep the tears back. "Yes." She said tolerantly.

Stephanie
She nodded, then started her story. "When I was eight, I was sitting with my mother and father at the table. We were eating lunch, and waiting for the doctor, who was coming to give us check ups. We heard a knock on the door, and my dad, thinking it was the doctor, opened it. Instead, there were three men, armed with an axe, a knife, and a gun. One of them shot my dad, then came into the house. My mother stepped in front of me, but another man hit her in the head with his axe. They kidnapped me, knocking me unconscious. When I woke up, my arms and legs were tied, and I was laying on a wooden floor. Two of the men were watching me, the other one was somewhere else. They soon ignored me, talking to each other and joking. I spotted a knife in the corner and rolled over to get it. They didn't see me. I got it and cut myself free, sneaking up to one of the men. I stabbed him in the back of the neck, and the other man dove for me. I dodged, slicing his side open. A few moments later the third man came in. I killed him too, then escaped. I lived on my own from then on, and here I am now." She said, drawing in a shaky breath.

Ana looked aside. "That's...awful..." She said considerately. She didn't know what much else to say. She certainly didn't want to ask questions.

Ana thought more about the situation. She said her next thought without completely processing it. "Why were they targeting you? I mean, what nasty people do that stuff?"

She looked at Ana. "I haven't a clue." She said, shrugging again.
