"How do I know I'm not?" He said quietly turning his head back around to face her. He sighed and ran his hand through the black fohawk on his head. The voice laughed in his head at hearing the conversation.

[...Ever After]

"Because I've been around the block a few times. I know when someone is crazy. I mean, when you've been alive for a 435 years, you've seen people who are really crazy." She said and almost immediately clamped a hand over her mouth. She was never supposed to reveal her real age, that was a big crime where she came from.

"Humm you look good for your age" he said with a small chuckle. "Who knows maybe I'm headed in that direction I don't know" he said with a small sigh. The voice inside his head continued laughing in his mind, the shrill sound echoing. "Shut up!" He said in frustration raising his voice and closing his eyes tight.

[...Ever After]

Lily laughed slightly at his first comment, "I try my best." She said. She addressed his next to comments with confusion, "I didn't say anything?" She said a little taken aback.

The voice's volume intensified as the maniacal laughter continued. "Shut up! Stop it!" He said almost pleading. The voice didn't let up but instead got even louder. Using the palms of his hand he hit his head as hard as possible in an attempt to quiet the voice. Whatever lily had said was drowned out by the voice.

Lily stood up and walked around the table and kneeled beside him, "Cole, stop that." She pleaded. He was starting to scare her. "Please stop." She begged her voice shaking.

The laughter continued for awhile before finally quieting down. Cole breathed heavily and kept his eyes squeezed tight. He returned his hands to the table and finally opened his eyes. Silently he turned his head to face lily. "It finally stopped!" He said in an eerily cheerful tone.

[...Ever After]

"What?" Lily asked extremely confused and scared at the moment. "What just happened?" She added her eyes slightly widened. "You almost looked like you were in pain." She said in a quieter voice.

"The voice! It stopped! The insane laughing stopped! Couldn't you hear it!?" He asked giving her a questioning look. He grinned wildly at the silence he now heard.

Lily shook her head, "No I couldn't hear it." She said sadly. She looked up at Cole, "It was only in your head." She said quietly. She stood up and walked back to her seat.
