His Royal Majesty wrote:
By royal decree, ordered
by his majesty the King
Julian the Wise, monarch of
the sovereign kingdom of
Fae, all noble maidens of
respectable houses are
permitted and expected at
the royal ball, taking place
on the fourteenth of the
month. The ball shall be
held at the royal palace, in
hopes of the royal princes
finding a suitable lady
for wifedom.
read between the lines of the royal proclamation:
Far away, there is another place, hidden deep within the realms of imagination. We breach this universe and find a world with medieval and magical intrigue, of warring states and romancing royalty. In this planet, called Narcis, there are five kingdoms. The Kingdom of Fae, where the role play will take place. The king of this land is Julian the Wise, who has led for many years justly and fairly. He has five sons, boys and men he has been wary to marry off for fear of forcing them too quickly into a mold. The other kingdoms are Mer, Drake, and the sister states Flora and Fauna. Recently Drake, which borders Fae, has been increasingly hostile. The king has feared the worst, he suspects war. This ball that he has proclaimed is a political move, like a game of chess. He loves his sons, but he loves his kingdom more, and must protect it. The ball is a way to marry off his sons, all at once, quickly and concisely. The plan is that they will meet many beautiful young maidens, who will steal their hearts. Each of his lads will choose two women to stay at the castle for the next week while they court them. This gives them a chance to see them in daily life, as well as how they react to the life of royalty. At the end of the week, each of his sons will chose a girl to marry. Not all his children are happy about this arrangement, but he can not alter this plan for them. He needs them to marry because if they marry wealthy daughters of nobles, the crown will get more funds for the war, as well as political allies. Similarly they will have a larger standing army, because of those that follow the noble families will follow them. And if his sons marry princesses, all the better, for whole nations will join sides with him. It is also an insurance. For in case something happens, and he died, the king does not want his dynasty to end. If he dies and his sons are at war with Drake, they will not be able to marry, too busy with battle and strategy. Their line might end, and that, the King cannot have. It is a ploy, and everyone with a mind of their own knows it. But will that stop all the young ladies of not only their kingdom, but from others as well, from congregating? No, of course it won't. Because princes are in high demand, and everyone has a fairy tale dream, somewhere in the depths of their secret hearts.

c h a r a c t e r s
a note; these are the slots, and they have set characteristics you should mold your character around. Beast and Gaston are twins. You can rename them what you wish. [philip]
[robin hood]
[beast/adam]
[gaston]
[peter pan]
[cinderella]
[snow white]
[princess and the pea]
[rapunzel]
[princess and the frog]
_________
Philip: the eldest, very handsome, very heroic, brave, good hearted, and dashing. The stereotypical "Prince Charming" character, with all the great traits that a damsel looks for in her man. c; He is age twenty.
Robin Hood: second born, very charming and gallant. He would be brave, too, and a political activist for those not as fortunate as he is. Rebellious and caring, with a good sense of humor. Age nineteen.
Beast/Adam: third/fourth born (it's a tie with Gaston), he comes off at first very rude and selfish. He seems crass and uncaring at times, but underneath there is certainly something kind and generous in him. He is, under the spoiled facade, shy and a little uncertain. (he's actually very dear, and so unsure...in fact, there may be something there that wasn't there before) aged eighteen. taken by peter pan
Gaston: third/fourth born (it's a tie with Beast), he, as well, comes across as rude and selfish. He is vain and self centered, and the most handsome of all the princes. He is absolutely gorgeous. Athletic, and very adventure-oriented, who knows, there may be something underneath the callousness that is good. Either way, most everyone who sets eyes on him loves him; he's so charming and handsome. Eighteen.
Peter Pan: the youngest of the brothers, he is adventurous, youthful, naive, and silly. He's still kind of a kid, not really ready to marry. He has an irresistible charm about him, and people gravitate towards him. His smile is infectious. At the end of the week, who knows, he may have found the girl that can be both his friend and his companion. He's sixteen.
Cinderella: grew up abused by her family and was sold into serfedom, but she is noble from birth. She comes here in secret, no one knows she's technically a peasant, because her family abandoned her. Very forgetful and a bit clumsy, but kind and patient and caring, as well as a charity case. She is a classic damsel in distress. She is beautiful in a classic way. taken by peter pan
Snow White: really really beautiful girl, her parents died when she was young, the queen regent of her realm is cruel to her, and jealous not only of her beauty but also of the power she is destined to hold when she takes the throne. Though not positive, she's pretty sure there have been assassination attempts. The only thing that kept her alive at times were her seven sturdy bodyguards. She took a few of them to the kingdom for protection, but they like to watch from afar, protecting her. She has a tendency to be too trusting, but is very innocent and sweet, naive and lovely beyond compare.
Princess and the Pea: a spoiled and very sensitive girl, she is regal, and majestic. She is constantly being tested and scrutinized by her family, and just wants someone to accept her, above all things. She is very clever and shrewd at times, and her wit can be dry and biting, but always intelligent.
Rapunzel: a sheltered girl, her family was always very protective of her. She was born of magic, and as a result has vague magical qualities, like extremely lush, beautiful hair, and a knack for healing. The first time she fell in love, her family had him murdered, because they didn't want her marrying him (they tend to exaggerate just a tad). It devastated her, and she's worried if she falls in love again she'll just lose this one too. She's also not completely over him, but hopefully she can fall in love again. Her family sent her here without her consent, but she's trying her best not to show her unhappiness.
Princess and the Frog: a very proud, very confident girl, beautiful, and also a bit self centered. She is hard working and strong, and always, always, keeps her promises. There can be times when she is very selfless, and is a diplomat by nature. She has no trouble asserting herself or stating her opinions, and doesn't take crap from anyone.
