⇀ Myka watched as the Rika came to life. She spotted Austin, a boy around her age, as he joined the conversation. She blinked and smiled happily; there wasn't going to be anything to spoil her mood today, if all went well.
"Aye," she said softly.

⇛ As soon as breakfast was cooking, Blaine gave a tiny
phew and wiped a bead of sweat off of his forehead. His morning duties had began, so he no longer needed to stress about getting the food ready in time. The fire was cooperating and the biscuits and pork were cooking nicely; it would be a calm morning, at least for him. A pleasant aroma was beginning to rise from the meal.
As the biscuits became golden-brown and rose to their full height, he started to notice the product of his rather sad cooking skills. A few were slightly malformed and misshapen; all of them were a bit lumpy-looking and one had sort of melted to one side. He used a spatula to scrape up the odd-looking biscuits and put one onto each of several plates. He then placed strips of pork next to them, and fortunately, those seemed to have came out okay. He moved one plate off to the side-- the one with the melty biscuit-- and mentally noted that that one was to be his plate.
After organizing the plates and putting out the fire in the woodstove, he dashed as quickly as he could up to the top deck of the ship. The wooden flooring clunked beneath his feet, and he blinked sunlight out of his eyes before yelling,

↦ Tobias raised an eyebrow before saying,
"As you wish, Captain." His voice had an edge of contempt in it; he didn't see anything special about today to be happy about, and the Captain's personality usually bothered him anyway. Most things did bother him in some way, though. As he realized this he half-smiled to himself in amusement. It quickly faded, though, and probably sooner than anyone could have noticed it.
He noticed another crew member emerge onto the deck of the ship-- Sam, if he remembered correctly. Tobias wasn't the best of doctors, but he knew his facts, and he knew enough about the human body to do his job properly. And as Sam spoke to Russel, he furrowed his brow slightly. It may not have been clear to anyone else, but to him, it was obvious: Sam wasn't a man, and for whatever reason she was trying her best to come off as one. His expression of confusion soon turned to an amused smirk. He approached the two "men" and came close enough to listen to their conversation and be noticed, but not so near that he would be intruding.
