"Lumine?" Grant asked as he saw a girl standing alone (Irin), seemingly lost, with Amber now talking to her. "Follow me. I got this, Amber." He told her, first informing the office ladies that he'd be going to show her the way. "I'll show you there. My sister will give you the basics." He continued telling the girl. "Her name is Renee, and she's filling in for a head, since we don't have one for Lumine yet this year. You'll be taking orders from her, instead." He added, smirking a bit. "I'm Grant, from Memoria. Renee and I are the headmaster's kids, so if you need anything, we're generally your people. Also, other people you can ask are the heads of each house, they're usually happy to help new students. You may want to stay away from Umbra, though. Some of them there don't like Lumine students. They have a kind of Gryffindor-Slytherin thing going on."

"No, it's just-" Peregrine started, feeling a bit flustered. "They'll all be here soon, and we have to get ready to show them around." He looked at Alexandra, nodding at her attire. "I like it. Gives a more... Chic feel." He stated, then sighed. "I just hope this goes smoothly, last year was a bit of a disaster." He cringed, recounting the great disaster of room mixups last year. Completely his fault. "I just hope we can get things right this time."

Piper glanced over at Saber, shaking her head. "Not really. Not exactly... nervous. Just dreading the new students. Things always happen when they come around." She said, sighing a little. "Not to mention, they'll all be crowding me for answers like I'm their mother and I automatically know everything. And then there are those who don't like a female in authority, or think I'm just another piece of fresh meat for them. Though... They're always fun to crush."

Solomon looked up a voice, seeing a girl. He knew her from last year. Well, he didn't know her, just kind of... Knew who she was. "Hey, you're..." He thought for a minute. "Salem, right?" He asked, soon grabbing a clipboard with the names of the students, seeing a Salem on the list, nut still not sure if it was her or not. The name sounded familiar with the face. "I really need to get to know people..." He shook his head with a light laugh. "Not really sure how I got to become a head, but whatever. Guess I have a little notoriety."

"Oh... Yeah. Thanks," said Irin. She waved good bye to Amber and followed Grant out of the office. He seemed nice. She was grateful to him for helping, again feeling that the school was way too big. Too many classes, too many houses, and too many people. "What powers do people in Memoria have?" Irin asked hesitantly. She was still getting used to the idea that there were other people like her.

Mortannis sat in an empty classroom, turning his hands to shadow and solid again, back and forth, back and forth. Just practice at this point. Once he got bored of that, he bunched his shadow into a ball and tossed it up and down, bouncing it against the wall. The others would see to the freshmen. He wasn't very good with people.

Salem replied,
"Yep that's my name. Sorry if I may have messed with you. You are... Solomon? right?"
Salem had over the years exploded three toilets, set off firecrackers in the main hall, set the corridor on fire, turned the dungeon into a giant never ending maze (with help), graffiti-ed half of the student text books, and got lost for over three weeks in the schools secret corridors which ended in a group of students being organized to find her.

Alexandra looked at Peregrine with a faintly amused expression when he fumbled around for words. "I for one, make an effort to be neat; the main room was about as dirty as a pig sty. And someone, namely me, had to go around cleaning it up; I can't stand filth. Thank you for the compliment, though; you have quite the arrangement." Alexandra said, looking at Peregrine's clothes. Tapping her fingers on the wall, Alexandra looked at Peregrine, this time with a slight I-told-you-so glance. "And who's fault was it that everyone got mixed up? I offered to help, but no. You thought you could handle it." Alexandra rolled her eyes and muttered under her breath; "boys..." Sighing, Alexandra looked a the currently empty hallway. "I wonder when the new kids get here; it would be quite interesting to meet them."

Saber~~~
Saber shook his head, sending spiky black hair flying everywhere. "That ain't nice, Piper." Saber said, looking at Piper with a slightly remorseful expression. "If we go around crushing the newbies in our own group, then the other groups will look down on us, and the newbies will most likely hate us; you have to make nice with them if you want to have a strong class." Saber then grinned slyly, holding up a hand;; a small sphere of nullifying dark energy appeared. "Of course, if they step out of line, an hour in the void should do the trick..."

MORTANNIS KANE, HOUSE UMBRA

Mortannis heard the hubbub of the school increase, and felt the weight of shadows increase. More students were arriving. Time to go see the first years. He hoped they wouldn't scream like last year.

Grant smiled a bit. "No problem." He said to her. "Memoria is people with mind powers. I'm a telepath. So, as scary as it sounds, I know what you're thinking. No, I can't turn it off. I can hear everyone's thoughts in this entire school. The only reason my head doesn't explode is because my mom's an herbalist and a Senior Lumine, a healer. She makes these pills for me that make the thoughts more quiet." He then laughed a little. "However, I can try to ignore what you're thinking if it makes you too uncomfortable. As for others, for example, the head guy can change density, and the girl you just met, Amber, she has Psychometry. She's also a head." When they got to the entrance of Lumine, in the east wing, he opened the door, where Renee was looking at the student list. "Ray, here's one of yours." He told her. The purple haired girl looked up, smiling a bit. "Hey. I'm Renee. Call me Ray, though." She said extending her hand to the girl.

Solomon nodded, ticking off her name on the list. "Yep. That's me. The kid who stays in the corner, reading nerdy books and watching Doctor Who, Sherlock, and Star Trek. Again, don't ask me how I got voted for this." He was amazing himself at how exceptionally smooth he was taking this, like he had done this so many times before. He impressed himself. "Ah, yeah, you kind of set off a thing of firecrackers under my bed, and nearly gave me a heart attack. Not literally, but it gave me a start. All is forgiven, after it happened, I was laughing. I don't think I was specifically targeted, considering about ten other guys got the same treatment, but even if I was, it's cool, I understand fully. Nerds are kind of made to be picked on." He honestly never cared when someone pranked him, half the time he was laughing along.

"Hey, you can ask anyone: I'm messy. So, it's probably good to have you around, because I wouldn't be cleaning." Peregrine said, then shrugged. "Meh. They're okay." He said, looking at his clothes. "Could've been better." He glowered at Alexandra at the mention, but soon his expression turned normal. "Yes, it was my fault. I admit that. But I also blame my dad. He's the one who made it sound like if I screwed up I failed as a human being. Only later did I find out he was joking. That man cannot joke, he's terrible at them." He glanced at the list of kids on the clipboard. "Um, I guess they'll all just file in eventually. We don't have too many shifters this year. We lost most of them last year at graduation."

Piper shrugged. "Most of them deserve it. You should know well I generally don't act on my hopes and dreams of crushing the stupid little worms. I just complain about it to Peregrine and you. Sometimes Renee, I suppose." She smirked. "I can act perfectly sugary sweet if I have to." She glanced at the darkness, and nodded. "Indeed. The nice thing about being a shadow manipulator is the fact that it's pretty easy to frighten the little buggers."

Alexandra rolled her eyes, again, and crossed her arms. "What am I, your personal maid?" She said, tapping her foot on the ground. "Okay, never mind; don't answer that." Scanning the halls, Alexandra looked at her watch, the up again. "Your dad is so serious it's almost funny. And where the heck are they...?" She muttered t herself. "This is way behind schedule; I suppose most of them got lost. After all, this place is huge; it has to be, for so many different classes to fit in. Hope they can find their way... We're falling behind schedule." Alexandra was a pretty meticulous person, so lateness was quite the big deal for her...

Saber~~~
Saber laughed and leaned back against the wall, his special tailored suit rustling as the starch fabric wrinkled. "Well, Piper dear, all you pretty much do is complain; it isn't that much of a surprise." Staring at the small sphere of darkness in his palm, he crushed his hand into a fist, separating the shadows. "Ah, well. Might want to wait until someone actually does step out of line; punishing a newbie for something they didn't do is just cruel."

To the normal human, Mortannis's form of movement was creepily strange. The untrained eye perceived him to be flickering down the hallways as he walked, almost teleporting from place to place with bits of darkness trailing behind him. But that was not the case. He infact moved fluidly, cutting between shadows and carpet, his hood up and obscuring his face. He paused as he walked and heard voices behind a wall. Saber, he presumed. Might as well drop in. There was someone else there too. He used their shadow to enter, melting up from the floor. (( sort of like rising up out of someone's shadow)) He avoided Saber's shadow, as it could too easily pull him into the void. How heavy it felt.
