She was unamused at his echoing "Echo", she had heard the joke often before 'Too often.' She sighed. "I'm in Umbra...." She said slowly, knowing the words might upset him. Then she started to elaborate to answer his question. "My power is a bit.... complicated. But basically I harness your fears and project them in black and white fire. Here, look if you want..." She said, holding out her hand, where another one of her colorless flames popped up. The flame that was dancing in her hand was about as big as a book, but it held power. In it Parker would see his deepest fear. Some this would terrify, others would be unmoved on the outside, and she's seen reactions everywhere in between. Since she couldn't directly see what he saw, she watched his face carefully, ready to absorb his fear as soon as it seized his mind. No matter how small, the image would send the emotion coursing through him, directly feeding the fire. The more strong the emotion, the more vivid the image became, and the brighter the flames glowed.

Cana giggled a little at the image of a bunch of pink-haired girls walking around. "Hey, good intentions though." she shrugged. She perked up at the word 'hot' and her cheeks went a light shade of red. "Well... You are hot..." she breathed hoping he didn't hear. She fumbles with the keyring that she had attached the key to and unlocked the door. She threw in her bag and locked the door as she came out to meet Hayden again. "why don't you show me around a bit?" she suggested lightly as she didn't want to get lost on her first day.

He chuckles. "Exactly! See, why can't more girls be like you?" He asked rhetorically with a grin, then he glances over to her as she commented quietly about him being "hot." "I know right? Flames should really count." He said. He had very good hearing, but he didn't understand that she meant the attractive hot. He always thought in terms of fire. He turned to go when she went inside, but stopped mid-step as she emerged but a moment later, and grinned widely, glad he didn't have to part with his new friend yet. "Oh sure! What do you want to see? We have the Library, the Tennis Court, the other houses, the classrooms...." he said, counting on his fingers as he listed them off, but paused as he thought about the last one. "Unless you have some other preference, I could show you were to go for your classes if you'd like." He offered with a smile.

Parker looked curiously at her when she announced her house, but unlike most in the school, he didn't believe in the stereotypes of Umbra students being evil or whatnot. He let her continue, and when she started to explain her powers, he wasn't sure if he wanted to look into her hands. Keeping his gaze on her, looking into her green eyes, Parker was somewhat scared to see what he feared. Most common things didn't frighten him, but what did? He looked into her hands and embraced the fire, seeing it transform before his eyes. Suddenly it all made sense, of course that's what appeared. Not being able to bare it, he turned around, facing his back towards her.

she blushed as he looked at her- she hadn't meant to say it loud enough to be heard. She was happy that he agreed as she didn't want to leave him so soon, then shrugged as he listed off the places to visit. She sparked up a flame and played with it for a few minutes. "I dunno, wherever...as long as i'm with you." she blushed at the last part then covered her mouth. "I-I...You know...Cuz, uh, you're my only friend here." she covered herself quickly and looked at the ground. She thought to herself about why she had only noticed him among the many other guys around the school.

Echo looked straight into his eyes as he did hers, her green gaze cool and unmoving. She both saw and felt the fear in his eyes - the fear of what his greatest fear was. The black and white fire grew brighter at this. When he looked away from her and finally into the flames, she felt a rush as his fear fed her powers. The flame roared up a few inches, but she wasn't paying attention to them now. Instead her gaze remained fixated on Parker, watching realization pass through his features, then the inevitable fright. When he finally looked away the flow of power ebbed a bit, but it was still there. Echo extinguished the flames and found that her heart was beating fast, like it usually did after a rush of fear so direct. Her gaze bore into the back of his neck, though, silently willing him not to be frightened by her. Though she was not the cause of his fears, she made them come alive, and for most people that was unnerving to say the least. "I always warn people before I summon the flames, but they always choose to look.... Curiosity can be a dangerous thing." She said, then let a silence sit for a few moments before continuing. "I can do more with them, though.... I can create life-size images of the fear that move and attack. Well, I should t least.... That's what I was doing; practicing that. I didn't think anyone was around..." to be frightened out of their wits. She added to herself. She realized that last part might've made it worse, but it was finally the answer to his question. She waited for him to say something, either that or walk away. She was prepared for harsh words, monster, freak, demon, she got them often, and she didn't expect less of the people in this school, however used to strange things they may be.

Hayden looked to her curiously, the smile fading from his lips. He seemed to notice for the first time that she was stumbling over herself and very shy or even nervous. When they met she had been this confident first-year, quite a rare sight, and he had thought that just being around all those people was what made her shy. But now it was just the two of them, and she still seemed shy. "Hey, are you sure you're alright?" He asked, gently brushing his fingers against hers as a comforting gesture. "It's not uncommon to be overwhelmed on the first day. If you want to just lie down, go ahead, you won't hurt my feelings." He half-smiled. "Besides, chin-up.... You'll make plenty of friends here! You're the kind of girl that attracts a good crowd." He added with an encouraging smile, misinterpreting her nervousness.

"In fine!" She exclaimed as sparks flew between their hands making her draw back her own quickly. She nervously played with fire, letting the flames lick over her hands as she blushed down at the floor. "I don't need to lie down, I'm just... I can't say." Her voice broke at the last part. "Yeah... Eventually..." She added, referring to his comment about making friends. She was so frustrated that he was just so calm while she was wringing her hands and fretting about what he would think if he could read her mind.

He grinned and looked at his hand as if seeing it for the first time. "Well then.... That brings a whole new meaning to 'sparks fly'." He said with a chuckle. He looked at her, still curious and not understanding, but after several moments of consideration he just shrugged. "Alright, I'll take your word for it." he smiles brightly. "You know what, how about we just go outside? There's an area where we can play around with fire safely. I mean, night is the best time to put on a show, but at dark the building goes into lockdown. Trust me, I learned that the hard way." He laughs at the memory of having to stay in the woods overnight. "C'mon, playing with fire relaxes ya just like it does me." he said, showing that he was observant at least in some sense, and turned and headed down the hall with her and down the tower steps.

"Y-yeah alright." She kept her answers short as he looked away from her and she. Realised she had been blushing more than usual around hayden. She wanted to yell and scream at him 'why don't you understand! Why don't you just try and figure it out?!' She created a few large flames and considered throwing them at his head to knock some common sense into him. Most guys she usually went for would have been all over her instantly, but Hayden was different. He wanted to be friends and she didn't want to ruin that. As she finished the thoughts she smiled up at him weakly, the sparkle in her eye slowly fading
