'Sorry, still doing work.' He sent. 'I'll come get you when the boss comes back.' His ruby stopped glowing and he looked over at Max.

"Please... Wait!" She kept running after Jess, but her dress got caught on a bramble. She tried to get free, but found that she couldn't.

Jess blushed a bit, having absolutely no idea why she had. She swallowed and sent 'Okay, big man...' There was the sense of a giggle somewhere in there. She turned back to Velta, going and freeing her from the bramble. "What?"

"I-I have to watch you! He said so!" She brushed her skirt off and realized she had left the vampire girl behind. "Oh no! What to do..." She muttered to herself. She was really in trouble. She had to watch Jess, make sure the vampire didn't kill herself, and, she realized, she probably just lost her friendship with Ember for pointing her needle at that young boy. She wished she could use human emotions, because she felt like crying. But since her eyes were made of thread, this was impossible. She should've ignored Kalla and never left home.

Jess shook her head as she looked at Velta, saying "He said only until I was better. Did he not? I am better, you saw me. I just ran fifteen feet or more. Plus, he's coming to get me soon..,"

D lied down. "She's taking soo long and it's sooo boring." He kept complaining.
