Michael's smiled disappeared. "I'm sorry." He took her hand, then thinking she wasn't in the mood, let go.

Mariah stood up, and walked back down the hallway, stumbling a few times. She had a black eye now. She usually wasn't a mess, but being in that place was really starting to tear her apart. She didn't even have one friend.

Alex kept thinking about the girl who had walked into his room. Her room must be close he thought, and went out to find her.

Maxi felt Michael grab her hand, then let go. Her anger vanished, and realized that maybe she should try to live and cope here like everyone else. She went back to her room, and found her bathroom. She took a shower, and went out to find the kitchen.

Michael played one more game of basketball and went to his room and got dressed. He then went to the movie room, hoping Maxi might be there.

Mariah saw Gale and turned around to go the other way. "Just leave me alone!" She shouted. "You did this to me!" She ran down the hall and ran right into Alex, sobbing.

Abby went to her bedroom. She took a shower and grabbed a book. She fell asleep reading.

Maxi grabbed some candy from a shelf, and a banana, too, knowing her grandma would want her to keep up the tradition of eating fruit before having a sweet. She headed the way she thought she saw Michael go.
