» I shake off her delicate touch, "I don't need your pity." I growl, not slowing down. Horizon trots beside me, Now YOU'RE the one that needs to calm down mister...I know you're in a lot of pain...But being nasty about it wont help... I ignore her and set my eyes on a particularly bright-looking beam of sunlight up ahead. My eyes have dried and are cold and hard but deep under my wall, my emotions are crackling. Horizon humpfts and rolls her eyes, Humans! She exclaims, exasperated. I out on an emotionless look but my fists stay clenched by my sides. I push more distracting thoughts aside, push them deeper down. I need to hide my emotions better... I conclude in my mind.

☄ Fine then. I snap. The pain is becoming overwhelmed with anger at this point, "If you didn't want me along on your special little journey then you could have just left me you know.." I spit out. Shriek flaps and clicks nervously at my sudden harshness but i don't care. I force myself into a standing position. "I don't even know here we're going anyways..." I mumble, tears prickling the back of my eyes. I blink them away and push the emotions to the back of my mind. My eyes scan the bright green mossy ground of the forest and land on a sturdy stick. I hop, not very dignity over to the stick and stoop to pick it up. I lose balance and crash onto the forest floor, moaning in pain. My vision blurs once more and i feel like giving up but Shriek's cry makes me force my eyes open and i get up on my hands and knees. The prickling sensation starts up again but i wont let myself cry. I bite my lip and pick up the stick. I slowly hoist myself upwards and lean heavily on the stick, using it as a crutch. "There." I mumble, not meeting his eyes. Shriek flaps twice, and takes off soaring above my head in the azure sky. Let's go.." I mutter once more and then start to crutch my way in the direction of Shriek. ☄

Fin’s face fell and she glanced up as Artemis hobbled into view. Despite his disability he still moved through the forest silently. The three-legged Griffin growled softly but then started purring when she rubbed him reassuringly between the ears. “I don’t pity you. Pity doesn’t do anybody a lick of good. I was just saying sorry. I shouldn’t have tested my skills so close to your heads and you have no reason to believe me when I say I hit what I aim at and only what I aim at.” She said quietly; hope lit up her green eyes. “Can we please start again? I’m Fin and this is Artemis.” She extended a hand, hoping he’d take her peace offering but fearing he wouldn’t. She wasn't accustomed to people not liking her. Sure the Hunters didn't but they were idiots. She was generally a bright and sunny gal and most people flocked towards her. She didn't like the thought that this boy could be completely unaffected by her charm and wiles.

» I turn around and see a small, elegant hand extended towards my chest. No wonder she has a good aim... I think absently. I finally glance up into her eyes for the first time and find myself momentarily lost in the swirling emerald and gold depths. As if in a trance, i take her hand and shake it softly. Life seemed to go in slow motion as my hand unclasps from hers and falls back to my side. Suddenly the world speeds up again and I drop my gaze, staring at the flourishing, mossy floor of the forest. "Yeah.." I mumble stupidly. Stupid! I bash myself in my mind but make a smooth recovery. I look up, my cobalt blue eyes locking with hers again, but not becoming distracted, "The name's Gabriel and this 'ere is Horizon, my Griffin.." I say, motioning towards Horizon's crouched, lithe form.

» Horizon sniffs then cautiously extends her mind out to the griffin standing beside Fin, Hi... She says slowly, I won't hurt you, don't worry.. She mutters, pawing the ground in exasperation.

Fin grinned in relief, glad that the hostility seemed to have disappeared. “It’s nice to meet you, Gabriel.” She said brightly, sliding a glance towards Artemis who still didn’t seem completely at ease. He was slightly overprotective but that was no surprise. He felt indebted to her because she’d been the one to save him as a cub right after he’d lost his leg. She sent him a meaningful look and he huffed softly, but finally opened his mind to Horizon.

I wasn’t worried. Despite my disability I can still fight. He retorted, slightly irritated with the female. Besides, even if I had only one paw, I could still beat a girl with my eyes closed. Fin’s eyes widened and she smacked his shoulder lightly.

“You brat, she was trying to be nice!” She scolded and he flattened his ears guiltily. “He isn’t usually this… stingy… I promise.” She said with an apologetic grin. “He’s just overprotective and a bit defensive about his leg.”

Hey! i'm not stingy, she insulted me! He protested.

It wasn't the exact outcome James was expecting, but it worked. He knew that Dominique needed medical attention, and even if she didn't enjoy his company he was going to make sure she got it. James got up and started walking. It didn't take long to catch up with Dominique since she wasn't going very fast. Corin was disturbed by this movement and started to complain in James' ear. James quickly shushed the little bird on his shoulder. James then looked at the limping girl. He tried bringing up a conversation to lighten the mood. "It's a wonderful day. Warm. Back where I live we don't usually get days this warm. I can't say I'm used to this." James could tell that this conversation was going nowhere, if anything it was making the girl next to him more annoyed. James sighed and fell into the normal silence he was comfortable with.

» I feel Horizon stiffen beside me, "Easy girl.." I murmur, but i can already tell that soothing speech will do no good on her at this point. She lets out a low rumble from deep in her chest and brings it out until it's an all out screech and i wince. "Dang.." I mutter. Her neck fur is standing straight up and her wing feathers are ruffling in small, golden waves. She bares her fangs and digs her hooked claws into the moist ground. You dare insult me! What a sexist, vaunt, self-absorbed beast you are! She roars, full out and resonating off the forest canopy. Then, in one fluid motion she takes off, flying up, up, up like an arrow into the white fluffy clouds until she is out of my sight. "Heh.." I laugh awkwardly and give a half-convincing smile. "Erm...Sorry?..." I say, giving a shrug and not knowing what to say after that. My ears are still ringing from that roar.

☄ I bit my lip, "Yeah, what a perfect day to break my leg..." I mutter sarcastically. Hey, you know that he's trying his best to..Well...Just be nice ok? Shriek murmurs in my mind. He said with a delightful purr, his serious demeanor seeming disappeared to be replaced by his arrogant, selfish, and egotistic side. "That cut of yours could get infected. If we find a stream, we should wash both our wounds." Vincent simply stated, following after her, Sylvester following suit after the two. Vincent couldn't shake this feeling that they were being followed, but then again, he had felt this way ever since he left home. His cocky smirk disappeared, being replaced with a prominent frown, his face growing dark. He trudged on with Alec, keeping his hand ready to whip out his pistol if needed. Over his many years of being hunted, he had developed prey, or what he insisted, predator instincts. His piercing blue eyes narrowed as he carried on, a malicious aura surrounding him.

She has anger management issues. Artemis decided, seeming completely unruffled as he watched her disappear. Arching his back in a stretch, he proceeded to flop onto his side and rest his head on his paws. Fin winced at the roar, shaking her head in an effort to stop her ears from ringing. “Wow, she sure has a pair of lungs on her. And don’t apologize; she had every right to be angry. Artemis is at fault and should… Apologize! You. Go. Now!” The last part she directed at Artemis, who opened one eye, glanced at her, and proceeded to roll onto his back. He let out a soft snore and she scowled, nudging him with her shoe. “Artie, I mean it. Go on and apologize to her you great oaf." Artie’s eyes flew open and he blinked at her in disbelief. When he realized she was dead serious, he growled and picked himself up. Spreading his wings, he sprang into the air. Fin watched him go with satisfaction. “He really isn’t usually as bad as this. He usually has more manners. I don’t know what’s gotten into him today.” She shook her head and turned her green eyes back to Gabriel. “So, are you and Horizon heading anywhere particular?”

Artemis wasn’t pleased that he was being forced to track down Horizon all for the sake of apologizing. He wasn’t even sorry. She had insulted him first. Okay perhaps he had been a bit harsh, but she’d judged him by his disability! He couldn’t stand when others did that. When he finally caught up with her, he sighed. Ok, ok, I’m sorry I was a sexist, vaunt, self-absorbed beast. Can we make up and be friends? He flashed a charming smile. Okay so he could be a bit of a flirt when he wanted to and he could be quite charming. Disability aside he was a handsome Leopard Griffin with sleek fur and startling blue eyes.
