"Nope," I growl at him as the battle erupted around us.
"Humanity has always been afraid of the dark. And as we age we learn that there really aren't any monster's in the dark. But that isn't true is it? Humanity is afraid of the dark because it is the embodiment of ourselves. Our fears, hates, and demons. And so we continue, somewhere in our hearts, to fear the dark."

Matthew slashed at Cowen's side.

I block it and use the momentum to thrust at his stomach.

Matt dodged and kicked Cowen against the railing. His sailors had surrounded the pirate crew.

I watch as we slowly become surrounded, looking for a weak spot...an I find it, a fresh sailor, still learning the sword. I dash at him and he takes a step back and the circle broke.

The gap filled quickly so that the crew stayed surrounded.

Matt watched Cowen with a smirk. He stood beside Chance's limp body.
