Draven started slightly at the sound of a knock on his door. He wasn't usually jumpy but it had knocked him suddenly out of his thoughts. He stood up and went to his door, blinking in surprise when he saw Mercy standing there. "Yes?"
Adonis reached over and wrapped his hand around hers saying, "First of all, you have to know I agree with you. I don't know what she was thinking in allowing a human to come here, and maybe you're even right that she's unfit to lead, I don't know. But back there, when I thought their might be a fight, I didn't stop yo because I thought you were out of line, but because I love you and I didn't want to see you get hurt, or banned from the pack if you lost. I couldn't stay here and loose you and I couldn't go with you and leave Althaia, she and Cronos need the safety of the pack."
It took her a little while but Aghana finally calmed Stormy down with some paitence and quiet words. She jumped back onto his bareback and started back along the way they'd come at a canter.
After a little while of watching, Corbin shifted to his human form and stepped out of the shadows and into the late morning's sunlight. He stuffed his hands in his pockets and headed thorough the town towards the shop.

But in the corner, at the cold
hour of dawn, sat the poor girl, with
rosy cheeks and with a smiling mouth,
leaning against the wall--frozen to
death on the last evening of the old
year. Stiff and stark sat the child
there with her matches, of which
one bundle had been burnt.
"She wanted to warm herself,"
people said. No one had the
slightest suspicion of what
beautiful things she had seen;
no one even dreamed of the
splendor in which, with her
grandmother she had entered
on the joys of a new year.
