River watched as the source of the brightness peeked over the horizon. It was a second moon, bigger and brighter than the first. It rose slowly, moving almost sideways rather than straight into the sky, and stayed close to the horizon.

River nodded. "Most of the people in the forest don't know there's another moon," she said softly. "It always stays so close to the horizon, but I don't know why. I bet I'm one of a very few wolves who gets to howl at two moons." She grinned, then lifted her head and began to howl.
