'I insist.' Sally said talking a step forward, Josh's smile had little to no effect on her.

Never pulled her hand away gently. ''Wow Josh really knows how to turn on the charm.' He said almost admirably, in the past past few minutes his option of the man had changed. 'However I have a feeling this chick isn't going to let up. Do you by chance have any sleeping drafts in that jacket of wonders? ' He'd heard the strain in Vicky's voice and didn't fancy a quick trip down just yet.

Quaint rounded a bend and flattened his ears aggressively. For the tunnel had widened to reveal a hidden cavern, and chained to the walls was a chimera, It was dark brown-red, had the head and body of a lion with curly rams horns and a long dragon like tail tipped with deadly spines. It roared and snarled, trying to break it's bonds. Every movement it made sent a wispy mist of dark energy.

Josh shrugged and smiled "alright then" he held out a hand "after you"
Dom stood up and looked at his bespeticaled younger brother, what was he thinking?

Vicky blinked at his through her concerntration "left side, inner pocket at the bottom" she said this through gritted teeth as she kept her grip on her, she could feel herself loosing centimeters

Roses eyes widened, her natural curiosity made her want to get a better look at the creature but the black aura it was giving off made her feel a bit sick, she let out a small wimper as one particuarly agressive trendil touched her

Sally eyed Josh for a second before dipping her head graciously, she took the lead walking in smooth strides.

'Hay keep us high, I don't fancy being a pancake.' Never said sticking his bow between his knees and reaching down inside Vicky's jacket, albeit a little bashfully. He drew out a vile and waved it in front of her eyes. 'Is this it?' He asked hastily.

Quaint gave Rose a sympathetic look, he brushed up against her. As soon as his soft fur made contact the Chimera's aura dispersed, shielding her. A beast summoned by magic, forced into existence to do the bidding of the one who conjured it. Remember how he feels, the torment and anger, he doesn't belong in this world. He sighed. These witches and wizards are up to something interesting.

Josh smiled and walked with her, Dom trailing behind

she squinted at it for a second "yep" she grunted

Rose looked at the creature with tears welling up in her eyes "cant we fix it?"

(Yeah your the first person I've met as well. I think i got up to the 5th book, but lost track after the green one came out...Forgot what it was called)

Never smoothly plucked an arrow from his quiver, dripped some of the liquid onto the arrow head and knocked it to the string. in 3 second flat he'd drawn, taken aim, and fired.

Sally let loose a small whimper as the arrow struck her fairly in the rump, she wobbled unsteady and collapsed.

Yes we can, by killing it. Quaint said wavering his tail. But first we must find the purpose of this chimera. And if there are others.The beast alone isn't enough to generate this amount of poisoned earth.

Josh caught Sally, his usual thorghtfull expression back in place
Dom looked at the arrow then up at Never "could you have cut that any closer dude?"

Vicky brough them down a little faster than intended, stuttering and pausing at odd times before finally landing on her butt with Never on her lap, she let out a breath she didnt realise she had been holding and leaned her head on his shoulder

Rose looked sadly at the creature, it reminded her of the sad wolf she had seen on the fairy path when she was only a few days old, she remembered calling to it with her mind and trying to comfort it, she wondered if such a thing would work with something so badly damaged
((I finished them all ^^ and trust me the end is so worth it, its awsome, also do you think I should make the fact that Joshs powers are gold a big thing? Or just make it a cool coincidence? Or just special, see my idea about witches was that boys are kind of rare so two of them to the same family is something to be celerbrated, sorry I'm doing a data dump from my brain its just got a lot of ideas in it I'll stop talking now...))

@ Karkeet, Nuu, keep talking I love listening to peoples rambles. I think it should be a special gift, it flows more with your idea rather than a coincidence. It also gives Josh more depth, especially if male witches/wizards are rare. However to level the playing field a bit Dom should be like Loki, the other brother who's shadowed by his siblings power. His personality could be a a direct result, he blusters and has attitude to unconsciously make up for his lack of abilities.
I got a little bored with the books, idk, the chars didn't seem to have enough umph. But now that you've mentioned it I'm curious to know how it ends ^^. )

Never grinned, 'you have no idea...' What ever he was going to say next was lost at the abrupt descent, he unconsciously gripped onto Vicky. When they landed he laughed at his odd position, 'I must say, this is a nice change.' He said wrapping an arm around her shoulders. 'You OK?'

Don't try. Quaint warned picking up on her thoughts. This is not a lost being, it's trapped, never tamper with a trapped animal. He tilted his head to the left. Come now, lets find these warty witchies.

Vicky rolled her eyes at Nevers comment and pushed him a bit "shut up" she waved away his concern "I just need to catch my breath"

Josh carefully lowered Sally to the floor and pulled out the arrow, careful not to touch the tip, Dom raised an eyebrow at his brother "when did you become such a smooth talker?" the younger boy looked up and smirked a little "I've always been like that, ever wondered how I never got a detention?" both of Doms eyebrows shot up

Rose sighed and followed the cat back Mums not warty, she pointed out

Never smirked, 'make me.' He glanced over at the Brothers. 'That was some pretty smooth moves Josh, I'd be proud to call you my brother, or any other relation status.' He winked charmingly.

Quaint snorted into his chest fur. No, but she might be one day. He sniffed near the base of another tunnel. What do you think, should we enter the unknown?
