power: healing touch
location: hall

"no, you have to trust me," she said to jess, looking the girl directly in the eye. romi stepped forward again. "youll hold her, right?" she asked the others as she looked at harvey, giving him a nod. she then took her hands and set them against the crown of jessica's head, holding her thumbs against her forehead and her index fingers on the back. her littler fingers spread and not touching the girl. romi closed her eyes and focused hard, doing her best to translate her power to her fingers. "stay still," she said to jessica, beginning to get dizzy, but she didnt let it hold her back.

Gen pressed her lips together when she felt Emrys wiggle his way back into her mind. She had to force down another laugh; one she'd save for later when it was just her and Em. No genius, her name is Akiko. Her shoulders sagged slightly as she felt him slip away. It felt weird being so distanced from her best friend. They weren't even this far apart or quiet when they were sleeping.

"I guess it doesn't hurt to make sure, but don't tempt me Maddox." She took a deep breath and realigned her focus with the stitch job she had ahead of her. Darby was right; it was oddly placed. It was small, yet deep, and it was right along his hairline. Slowly and carefully, she made the first stitch, letting her hands find their pace. "Pain is a good thing. It gives you clarity; shows you what you do and don't need in a world like this." Her words felt a little harsh as they left her lips, causing her movements to falter.

"Sorry. Again. I should probably work on my people skills." She shook her head and tied off the stitch, examining his neck for anymore gashes that might have gone unnoticed. "I suppose silence just depends on the context and the person." She sat back and shrugged, connecting her line of sight with his. "I mean, what would you think if you saw me being quiet as can be? You'd probably assume that I was pissed, because that's what I'm known for. It's not offensive. It's just a fact."

Blythe furrowed her brows as she watched Jessica take off, only to be stopped by the lovely Cairo. "Huh, well that's one way to do it!" She rubbed her hands together, as if she was wiping dust off of them. Jessica's fine choice of words didn't go unnoticed, but Blythe was paying more attention to her silence. She was about ready to interject herself when Jessica suddenly dropped her guard, letting pain take over.

Next thing Blythe knew Romi was taking over, trying to help in the way that she could. Except there was the fact that they didn't have all the details as to what was going on with Jess. Not to mention Romi probably shouldn't have been using a power that required so much energy while she was standing. "Okay whoa there honey bee; this isn't the time or place for that." Blythe rested her hands gently over Romi's. "We need all the details. We also don't need both of you collapsing on the floor of the hallway. There's also a chance of her attacking you. We need more than one person holding her." She quickly turned her head towards Cairo and offered a sweet smile. "No offense hun."

She wasn't sure if her advice was going to be taken to heart, but she needed to talk to Harvey. He might not think he has all the answers, but he's been talking to her. He knows what's going through Jessica's head right now. Blythe reached out to tug on the hem of Harvey's shirt. "Hey, pretty boy, over here." She muttered softly, taking a couple steps away from the group but staying close enough to help in case something went wrong.

Raiden raised an eyebrow at her as she hesitated. He had assumed it wasn’t a hard question. It didn’t take long for the sound of his own voice to reach his ears, nearly making him flinch. His lips twitched slightly, suppressing the smirk that was trying to push its way to the surface. “Would that be sound mimicry or vocal mimicry? Either way it’s an interesting one.” He stated, brushing off her question.

He turned around back towards his locker to attempt at opening the damned thing again. “Technically you’re not a newcomer if you’re already part of the organization. So why treat you any different than anyone else?” He asked as he yanked on the lock, sighing with relief when it finally gave way. “Clove huh,” He reached into his locker to grab his bow and arrows, slinging the quiver over his shoulder, “like garlic?” Now probably wasn’t the time to be teasing, but it was something he didn’t let himself do very often. "And Finch, like the bird?" He questioned, taking a few steps closer, getting ready to make his way towards the exit. He figured he'd get an ear full from the woman, but it was all in good fun.

she kept her eyes closed and her hands in place. "trust applies to all of you," she growled, obviously upset by blythes comment. romi knew the extent of her power. she knew she could do this. maybe now wasnt the best time, but if restoring some of jessicas memory would calm her down some, then it was a good idea.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
daniel west jamison ━━━ mood: sick, tired location: hallway > main dorm tagged: sienna

indent Just as he was about to rejoin Ansel and Milo, the two disappeared, as did the medic that Dan had just stolen. Hmph. Thefting my thefted person. Rude.

indent Just as he was considering spending some quality time with the bathroom, since the medics probably wouldn't be happy if he threw up over their floors, Sienna appeared. One of his mentors. He didn't really know her well, except for the fact that even though she was nice, she could be stern. Also that it was freakin' terrifying whenever she popped out of nowhere. Invisibility would be totally perfect for a haunted house actor, he thought, watching as she went to talk with Lorenzo, who Dan hadn't actually noticed before. Has he been here the whole time, or...?

indent As the two talked, Dan found himself slowly wandering away, until a voice caught his attention. Sienna. He wasn't paying very close attention, but the recruit somehow managed to snag a few key words and put together what she was saying from there. A nap. Yeah, that sounds perfect...

indent Green eyes stared into her's as he gave her a small, hesitant nod. Looking over his shoulder, he could see that there was still some sort of argument going on down the hall. Thinking it best to avoid the situation, Daniel threw his remaining energy into opening a portal on the wall next to him. Once again, he gave his mentor a thankful nod before he jumped through. The instant Dan's feel touched the ground on the other side, he could feel the exhaustion flooding throughout his body. He'd never been allowed much practice with his portals in the past, and now that he was able to use them more often... The recruit simply did not have the stamina for more than a few jumps a day. Two portals would've been fine. Three was stretching it thin. Four would not turn out great.

indent As the young man trudged over to his bed, he noticed a small figure sleeping a few bunks away. Guess i'm not the only one who needed a nap? A part of him was glad there was someone else in the room to sort of keep him company, but a larger part of the recruit wanted to be alone for a while. Silently hoping the sleeping figure wouldn't snore and wake him up or something, Dan climbed into bed and totally passed out man I mean it was SECONDS fastest falling asleep time ever.

xxx Levix Macias
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
levi rey macías ━━━ mood: focused, o_o location: milo's office tagged: ansel, milo, fireflies, akiko, shinoto

indent He didn't miss the soldier's nervous glance, nor the words that came pouring out of Fireflies, Shinoto, and Random Girl's mouths. Within minutes, Levi couldn't help but feel like he needed to get out. He was a medic, not an officer. Was this information he was even supposed to hear? I mean... Most of it is common knowledge anyway? And if the General doesn't want me here, they can always ask me to go...

indent "Of course..." A part of Levi felt honored, in a way, that the General hadn't denied his help. Sure, diagnosing illness and injury was his job. He did it every day, sure, but this was the General of the biggest organized rebellion in the US. The leader in their march for a better future. Throw in the fact that their powers were contact-based? Lev had met a lot of scared kids with touch-based powers who didn't want him anywhere near them. Of course Milo wasn't a child, but the sentiment remained. For a moment, Levi let a small, reassuring smile to pass over his face as he lifted his hand to hover above the General's, then it was back to business.

indent The moment Levi's hand touched his leader's, the medic began to feel a familiar ache in his eyes. It took him a few seconds and a lot of blinking to get used to it again, but once he did, it was treated as an age-old friend. Sure, it hurt, but that was his power's price for helping another. A small cost compared to losing a life.

indent Low red blood cells, low blood su-

indent "- Shinoto and Akiko were messing with Jessica’s head I was arguing with Jessica -" At this, Levi let out a little wheeze, his eyes wide as he looked between Ansel, Milo, Fireflies, Shinoto, and Other Girl. As soon as the words left Fireflies' mouth, every inch of the medic's body begged him to flee. One of the first rules of staying with the rebellion, the first thing he was ever taught in this compound... Don't use your powers on another rebel without permission. And they violated that. Lev wasn't especially keen on sticking around to hear the trio's fate.

indent Nononono! Stop! Just ignore that; listening to them isn't your job. Where was I anyway? Right, so... Yeah. Low red blood cells, low blood sugar, dehydration. Not bad, considering the circumstances...

indent As the three younger teens spoke about their day's troubles, Levi sat down next to his leader and leaned in a little, voice dropping to as quiet a whisper as he could, "You're a little bit anemic and dehydrated, but you should be fine with some rest, food, and water," he explained, trying to speak quickly so as to not interrupt his fellow rebels too long, "I'll be right back. I'm gonna grab you something to eat and some water." And just like that, he was on his feet, making his way to the door.

indent A twist of the silver knob, the soft click of the door closing, and Levi was gone.

xxx Cairox Arktoi
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
cairo ezra arktoi ━━━ mood: calm location: hallway tagged: romi, harvey, jessica, blythe

indent "Amnesia? So? What? Jessica - our Jessica - is just... not here?" He wondered aloud, a small wave of confusion falling over his features as he considered it. What happened? What could have possibly caused... This?

indent And suddenly, Romi was trying to heal her. Cairo didn't understand a lot of things, but limits was not one of them. She already looked tired enough, and something like this? No. He couldn't let her potentially hurt herself. Even if he offered her a bit of luck, Kai didn't have much to spare anyway. Not today. Luck was weird that way - it granted opportunities, opened closed doors, even helped him carry out his actions, but he still had to make the choices. Maybe he underslept, or even overslept, but today just didn't seem to have a lot of opportunities, and he could feel it... Somehow. He'd never been entirely sure how that part of things worked. It just was something he didn't understand.

indent "We need more than one person holding her," Blythe's calm, steady voice rang out as she tried to diffuse the situation, "No offense hun." It took him a minute to realize that the mentor had just called him 'hun', but the instant it did, a wide, playful grin became plastered on Kai's face. Oh, Ms. Evans. How i've missed talking to you since... Well, I guess it was only yesterday or the day before or something... Not that long. BUT STILL!

indent "None taken, my dear," he cooed back at her, eyes sparkling with mischief. He knew it wasn't the time or place for humor, but Kai just couldn't help himself. He and Blythe had long been friends, and this kind of humor just so happened to be their language. The best way they communicated, the- Hold up... What were we talking about again? OH! Yeah...

indent Then, it was back to the task at hand. Letting go of Jess's arm, Cairo reached out to grab the young medic's hand, to pull her away from Jessica. But then, she spoke, and for a moment, he hesitated. She doesn't think we trust her? She wouldn't be a medic if she wasn't trustworthy. Besides, who else is gonna patch me up after Hugo pays a visit?

indent "It's not that I - we - don't trust you, Romi," He explained, gently pushing the girl's hand away from their Advisor's head, "We just... We don't know what caused this and you said it yourself: it takes a lot out of you. We need you at your strongest in case more people come back injured, and healing this isn't going to help that. At the very least, I think we should consult the General first."

Jessica Marie Delgado| MJ
|Scared & Furious|Rebel Adviser|Shiftier & Shadows|Human|Hallway|Harvey, Blythe, Cairo & Romi|

Her headache seemed to subside when she wasn't trying to do anything. She was forced to be docile, but that meant she'd be trapped here longer. Her brother was going to have to wait for her.

Her eyes opened into a glare as the female came closer to her, placing her hands on top of Jess's head. A low growl came from her chest in anger. They aren't very good at listening, are they? Her pupils shrunk to pinpoints, and her headache came back with a vengeance. Jess was unable to fight back. All she ever knew was how to keep fighting. Though, this headache started to get worse due to Romi. "Filthy hands." Her voice came up in a bare whisper.

The other female had come over to stop the Healer, which made her grateful till the girl continued touching her. After Blythe walked away, Jess whispered to Romi. "She's right, you know? Say you heal me, I could kill you after that for touching me, and there would be nothing you could do about it."

The Healer spoke of trust, and a smirk crossed her face. "You know trust gets you killed sometimes." MJ was trying to take advantage of the situation to antagonize Romi to have an outburst. ” they don’t trust you, and why should they? You don’t listen, and you aren’t thinking in the future. Being stubborn can kill.”

The world was starting to spin slowly, causing her to become sick. Even if she wanted to throw up, there was nothing that would come up. She hadn't realized the male had let go of her nor that he was moving the healer's hands off of her. Jess dropped to her knees first before collapsing into a ball. The world was still spinning. Only small memories came back, such as her escaping and being found by Graham. A small smile tugged at the corner of her lips as she laid motionless.

Graham was her mentor, a father figure. He found her fighting in the city, protecting a small loaf of bread from a group of 3. At a time where she had little faith in people, he kept coming back to gain her trust until she agreed to go to the rebellion. The previous general took her in, worked on her anger issues, helped her learn control over her abilities. When she went to the rebellion, everyone was too friendly. It made her wary of them, considering that they might have had other motives for their kindness. She couldn't have asked for anyone better to come into her life. Since her joining, she trained her hardest. The last thing she wanted was for her to get blamed for any weakness or wrongdoing. Under his watchful eye, she made herself stronger and smarter for his approval, much like a child seeking their father's praise. He was also the last person to show her any affection as well. After his death, she made herself a promise to herself to stay within the rebellion and help the best she could. Though her personality became cold and harsh, causing her to distance herself from others. After she took over the advisor position, it was easier to fulfill that promise. Milo was the general and had a way of doing things differently than Graham. She never questioned him or made his job harder. Milo didn't need to worry about where her loyalty lay. She was the general's right hand and guard dog, protecting him from what he couldn't see.

Since CS made me change my signature because they didn’t like that my officer died for someone bad, I hope he finds rest while others hate him for doing his job and sacrificing his life.

    ─────(ASPER ILARIO)────
REBEL SOLDIER // plant manipulation, time perception manipulation
tags // banks, nic [mentioned: bree, tish] loc. medbay

Gentle words that awarded him far too much credit for control of chaos were slipping out of Banks' lips softly as he settled into the bed, giving Jasper reason to pause. His brow furrowed. If anything, that credit as a steadying anchor should go to the brilliant medical officer less than a few feet away sipping tea. Her arrival and calm demeanour had helped keep the gears of the rebellion turning, bringing some semblance of order to what had been an absolute disaster of a day.

"I just... need you to know that somebody sees you."
He was so rarely stuck for words, but he faltered now as lips parted and he tried to think. What was he even supposed to say back to that? Memories of another, a forlorn warrioress in a captive space, were surfacing without warning or permission to the forefront of his mind. That girl had seen him too, and he'd seen her, with all her beautiful, fragmented pieces and blossoming strength, as they'd whispered fortifying comforts through walls to each other in the late nights and the early mornings where restlessness and pain claimed their souls.

That girl had seen him leave. Eyes glowing through their little hole in the wall, seeing his weaknesses and his triumphs.
Chester Banks did not see him. How could he? He saw the fragmented pieces masquerading as a whole, aided by his inability to see anything but the best in people. But that was okay too, he supposed.

Jasper's heart startled as Banks abruptly launched himself out of the cot to collide with his friend, but a small sense of relief lingered at the fact he hadn't been forced to come up with a reply. Although, it was frustrating how the other man just couldn't help himself from; he was so frustratingly determined to overexert himself. Something about it was oddly endearing, the sweet loyalty to friends over himself as he rushed to check Nic's status.

Breanne's voice recalled him from distraction and he tugged his gaze to hers. Barely a few minutes ago he'd been reluctant to leave Banks' side, but now he almost wanted to stay to assist her. He adjusted his features into a small smile to mirror hers. "Gotcha, I'll see what I can do. But if you need anything at all, just call me over?"

With that, he was making his way across the room to join Nic and Banks, standing behind the smaller medic. What even to say? "Not to interrupt secret sharing or whatever, but you do need to get some rest."

    ──────(MRYS SILVIUS)─────
    REBEL COLLECTOR // telempathy, clairaudience
tags // riku [mentioned: mavis, banks, gen, darby, nic] loc. medbay -> mess hall
Gen's familiar presence slipped into his mind with her familiar dry wit, but he'd already realised anyway so he didn't deign to reply. Vocally - mentally? - at least; his emotions probably clearly showed her what he thought of the name. It didn't take a genius empath to decipher his feelings. They didn't even have a genius empath, not anymore. They just had the two of them...

Pssh, whatever,” he waved Mavis off. So that was how it was, then? She was just gonna shut his attempts to make conversation down - well, fine. “I don’t like your conversation much anyway, Mavis- if that’s even your real name? Huh?” But he wasn’t interested in an answer to the jab as he wandered away from her. Emrys paused, looking around the room.

He stretched slightly, like an ancient colossal dinosaur realising that a flashing meteor in the sky is too close to comfort: oddly tense and utterly confused on what to do as his hand rubbed the back of his neck. It was slightly cold in the room without his shirt on. It was also cold with the shirt on, because the article of clothing in question had ice on it. He couldn’t win.

Should he go to join Gen and Darby? They looked like they were having the time of their lives… stitching and being stitched… because that was a super fun activity to partake in… fun enough for Gen to just abandon him. She didn’t feel like she was having the time of her life, though. She just felt like emotions. many different emotions. Yup, she was definitely having some emotions right about now.

It was the third time he’d entered her mind in such a short timespan. He should probably stop doing that. The constant connect and disconnect was draining his energy. 'Toot toot, chugga chugga, feels train. Neeeeeeeeeeeeeerowoosh, the passion plane is taking off.'

Somewhere behind him, Banks was saying something about a wedding. He wondered who was getting married. Probably Gen and Darby since they were clearly so close. Emrys spared a glance towards the snowman and his emotional support medic, than back to his friend with her emotional support medic. Too many medics. He walked through the threshold of the medbay into the mess hall, spotting his officer sat at one of the tables. He plopped into a seat opposite Riku, arms folded over his bare chest. Maybe he should've gone to get another shirt. A few regrets were had. "Sup," he said lamely as he leaned back.

    ──────(ARVEY BLAINE)────
    REBEL SOLDIER // memory overload
tags // jessica, blythe, romi, cairo [mentioned: n/a] loc. hallway
A lot happened in a little time. From Romi bombarding him with her medical questions to suddenly deciding that she’d just go on to make an attempt before he’d even collected himself enough to form a response. Her patience was certainly appreciated… The fact that she was hovering around MJ despite the other’s insistence to leave her alone…

Sure, sometimes patients did not cooperate, and measures had to be taken, but he wasn’t sure that forcing a heal was the best idea at this moment, despite Romi’s insistence of her own ability. Heck, he couldn't even doubt her word that she'd do it. She was small and puffy- eyed from tears, but all the rebels were capable in their own ways. It was just that something felt off. Whether it was instincts or his folly, but he knew a little bit about forcing memories to resurface from years honing control of his own memory-based power, and results weren't always good.

Blythe's cheerful persona had returned, but she obviously shared the same concerns as he as she voiced her opposition to the idea, an opposition that Cairo seemingly harboured too... A gentle tug on his shirt forced his attention to the mentor pulling at him. Pretty boy? His eyebrows rose. She’d spoken just as sweetly to Cairo and the collector had responded in kind, but was this really the time for such things? Still, he let her lead her the few metres away. Her eyes met his. Familiar timer ticking seconds away in his head, that irritatingly familiar controlled urge resurfacing. He pushed his power's desperate intent to the back of his mind. He'd keep control, even as stress pulled cold fingers at his patience.

His distracted gaze skipped from Blythe to re-focus on the scene occurring just to their right. Jessica’s words were rising to antagonise Romi further even as Cairo attempted reassurances, words oozing with poison and threat even as she grimaced. Then she was just dropping. "Damned disaster," he murmured under his breath, quiet words meant for his and Blythe's ears only as he shot an apologetic glance towards the mentor who had pulled him aside, turning back towards the scene.

A shimmering silver-blue portal on the wall, the recruit’s gaze meeting her own briefly before he stepped through and out of her sight. She’d have to ensure she checked in on him later, but he was a capable man. He’d hold his own. Hopefully he’d rest and recuperate.

She shifted her focus back to the gatherer once again, assessing his request in her mind. It meant remaining visible, but this was had never been a stealth mission. Not to mention she was practically in the dark about the whole situation. It was worrying news to hear he’d not seen either on the officers, but perhaps luck would turn. “Of course.

Sie’s gaze skipped over her shoulder to where she could just see the familiar tall form of her brother around the curve of the hallway, his back to her. She wondered at the nature of the situation back there, but snippets of words floated around the corner. She’d recognise her brother’s arrogant, playful cooing anywhere. He was fine. No need for worry. She started down the direction towards the Mess Hall alongside Enzo. “Sorry to seem a little oblivious, but do you know what actually happened out there today?

romi swiped her hands away from jessica in frustration. she opened her eyes and mouth to say something, but that was when jessica dropped to the floor. "what... what the hell?!" romi cried out. what was wrong with jessica? no, what was wrong with HER?! using her powers without permission nearly... that was no good! "i didnt transfer any healing to her yet, why would she- i-" romi stuttered, confused and scared. she clasped her hands together and looked down, ignoring what jessica had said to her. she knew the others didnt trust her, it was obvious to romi. but she trusted herself, and she KNEW it wasnt her that made jessica drop.

saša milovanović (milo) | the general | dream walking [-8] | general's study | tagged: ansel, levi, fireflies, shinoto, akiko | mentioned: kian

milo had forgotten all about levi's hand, and when his fingers brushed the general's own their heart skipped a beat. it wasn't just a shift, this time--it wasn't like a sigh. it wrenched their breath right out of their lungs, winding them as they grit their teeth and closed their eyes, breaking into a cold sweat. they hadn't been keeping track, chalked the fatigue up to the loss of blood. but that was only part of it, it seemed. milo wheezed, taking as deep an inhale as possible, before they swallowed and turned their attention to ansel.

"yes... please. make sure no one else touches her, even the medics. their powers could very well do more damage now than good." they huffed breathlessly. they nodded in return to levi's hushed whisper, and withdrew their hand gently. food. they'd almost completely forgotten about the gnawing in their belly, but the though of it brought nausea back in waves. no matter. they'd be able to rest, soon. the general watched medic macias scurry out of the room, and couldn't help but feel sorry for him. at least he wouldn't have to hear the rest.

    ah, the rest.

they felt like they'd been punched square in the gut, but that did little to ease their fury at shinoto's words. talking so flippantly of something that carried such great stakes, you would have thought the boy had never seen tragedy in his life. they all had, in their own ways, but this? no, soldier yoon wasn't there when andrew was slaughtered by taskforce fire. he hadn't been the one to dig graham out of the rubble, to hold him as bruises bloomed over his body. it made them furious, made them curl their fingers into fists so tightly that their knuckles paled.

but just as suddenly as they felt the angry yell rise in their throat, it died. shinoto was a fool. all three of them were. but they were hardly much more than children. milo had been there once, too, had been scolded just like they were scolding the trio now.

"you can't just bring people here, milo. that's not how it works."

they'd thought they knew best back then, too. and while ultimately their judgement had become one of their strengths, they'd had to learn for it to become that way. maybe some day these kids would be a great benefit to the rebellion. it wasn't right now, but perhaps for the present their fury could give way to leniency. just this once.

they raised a hand to call for silence, cutting the three off.

"what i should do is permanently ban the whole lot of you from ever participating in offensive fairs again," they began. "...but i'm not going to. another phrase for "bold stroke" is "amateur ignorance," shinoto. today, you were not bold. you've done nothing brave. you've endangered your comrades and violated a superior officer, then tried to hide behind your hubris instead of taking responsibility for your complete and utter lack of forethought. if you believe that what you did is right, then be a man and shut up and face the consequences. i'm not offended, shinoto. i am incensed."

they paused, just for a moment, gaze flitting between them as they ground their teeth in thought, eye narrowing.

"akiko, i refuse to accept you as a recruit of this rebellion."

wait... what? felix raised one dark brow, her heterochromatic gaze critical. "felix, babe. like i said. looking for a rank or somethin'? well. ain't gonna find it. there's only one head honcho here, and he's currently down for repairs." she hummed, crossing her arms. "welcome to equality, huh?"

"i dont get what youre saying. i simply want to meet the person in charge here," crystal said, putting a hand on on her hip. she looked felix up and down a moment with thin eyes, not sure of what to think of her... character. "nice to meet you too, by the way."
