the impact of the four bit's of capsule turned pangea into a barren wasteland. the dinosuars died out and the land began to split. the travelers sensed this and stayed in they're capsules. the land wasn't safe anymore. they couldn't just rocket to another planet, the capsule was good for one ride. they were stuck until the earth was safe.
