Page Twelve:
"Okay, so the Assists. I have never heard of you. Are you guys like completely under cover or something? I have only heard of the Officers; no Assists." I search every corner of my mind for any scrap of who these people might be and if I have ever ben told anything of them.
Clea shakes her head and gestures towards the chair I had knocked over when I stood up, "You might want to take a seat, Ellie; this may take a while." I follow her instructions. "Alright, as I said- we are the Assists. I have already introduced you to all of us- but you still seem quite confused, am I right?" she scoffs.
I roll my eyes, "No, isn't it obvious I understand?" I spit sarcastically.
"No need for an attitude. Dr. Paula would be happy to sedate you again- wouldn't you?" Clea turns sharply towards the doctor and glares coldly. Her face drains and she shakes her head- then quickly skitters from the room. Clea sighs, "So hard to find good employers these days. Anyway, So you remember Nara from a few seconds ago?" she smiles.
"How old do you think I am?" I groan.
"Oh shut it an just listen. the faster we get through this- the faster I can get out of here." Nara speaks around her banana.
"Well put Nara- thank you." Clea pauses to see is Andrew has anything to add, he shrugs. "Alright, lets explain now. We are the Assists- kind of the advanced version of the Officers of the government. though compared to their skills and capabilities- they are nothing."
Andrew joins in with a cold voice, "We are far more advanced than any species found within the cities and districts. we keep things safe and make sure no one steps out of line."
"Well then aren't you just Officers- that's all they do." I ask.
"Well, technically speaking- yes. We are quite a bit like the Officers in what we do, but the way we accomplish it is very different. We come in when the same mistakes are made and they are continuously trying to be fixed wrongly. The Officers are not allowed to use violence; but we are." Clea grimaces.
I suck in a sharp breath, "Are you planning to use violence on me?" I narrow my eyes and tighten my muscles.
Andrew scoffs, but Clea waves me off an speaks, "Of course not; we wouldn't bother wasting energy on someone like you."
"Then who do you waste it on?" I'm trudging in waters that I should realistically leave alone.
"We're getting off topic." Nara snaps perfectly audible this time.
"Yes." Clea drops a folder on the table in front of me labeled 'CLASSIFIED'. "You are different; we know this. What we don't know is how your different. We have the answers from you that we need- we already extracted them from your memories while you were out. So who is this 'God-like Sam' your thinking of?" the other two chuckle while Clea just smirks.
"You cant raid though my mind!" I object, feeling heat crawl to my face. "It's uncalled for and you have no right!"
"Actually, we do. and we did." Andrew points out. I stick my tong out him like a four year old who didn't get their way.
"Alright, we have what we need. Dr. Paula! Come and put her under again." Clea calls out the door.
"What, no! Don't you dare! you can put me back out, I wont let you!" I screech, while Nara and Andrew slide to my side and hold down my arms and legs with ease.
"Oh hush Ellie, your making a scene. Just close your eyes and pretend your with Sam." Clea smirks again.
"Distress! Distress! Help, Help- DISTRESS." I scream the thought-mail to my PC, hoping to have Officers come and help.
But my call for help is met by an unwelcome cold thought-mail, "Don't bother- we are the PC's." Clea's voice rings in my head.
I let out a scream when a cold rick meets my neck. then everything goes numb and silent once again.
