It had ben a whole day. All the other cats were asleep, and Sequoia was on the verge of doing the same when she heard a terrible wail. She dashed into the hallway to find Petal just emerging from the door of her room. Petal quickly followed Sequoia, and there it was. The black cat that had beenrecruited just that day lay in the hallway. Scratch and bite marks covered his entire body, and he lay there lifeless. "Petal, take him back to your room and inspect him." Sequoia demanded. Petal dipped her head and hauled the body back down the black corridor knowing that nothing would be the same ever again for the Queens Cats.

Scout lay awake, unable to sleep. This was normal, he never got much more then a couple of hours of sleep a night anyway. He wasn't sure why though. His ears twitched, and the tom shot to his feet when a terrible yowling was heard. Scout slipped silently out of the room, trying his best not to wake the other cats as he made his way towards he horrible sound. His head peered around, and he heard Sequoia yelling something. Scout crept down, cocking his head as he watched from far away. What was going on? Suddenly Petal appeared, and then he saw it. A black cat lay dead on the floor, the body being hauled down the corridor straight towards Scout. The tom jumped a little, and moved out of the way so the other cats couldn't see him.
