"What is it Firekit?" shed asked gently, her tongue combing the fur around her right paw.

"Oh..." she blushed and looked straight at him, "well, there are kittens in here, and I'm keeping them safe for a little while. You'll get to play with them soon Firekit,"

She paused then motioned down to her belly with a nod of her head.

"Place a paw gently on my belly," she encouraged him to be curious and adventurous.

"My babies will be safe for another two weeks at the latest. All you kits will be able to play with them soon, I promise. They will be very small and very weak to begin with, so you need to be very careful with them,"
