Risingspirit's whole body temperature went down a couple of degrees. What did Violetkit have against love? Maybe she thoughts that Dovewing would persuade him not to be the best. His life long goal could not be put down by some she-cat! That idiotic kit! He shook his head. There had to be a better reason. Violetkit should know that Dovewing couldn't stop him.

Dovewing shook the thought away. Why would his sister have anything against her? It wasn't like there was anything wrong with her...

Risingspirit looked at Dovewing, pain in his green eyes. He winced as he stretched out the new scabs on his neck. "I'm gonna stand up to her," he muttered slowly nd softly.

Dovewing tilted her head.
"Why? Shes your sister. She obviously knows something you and I dont. Maybe were not," she paused, pain rushing through her, "Maybe were not meant to be."

Risingspirit chuckled and looked at her curiously. "She's a kit," he said, "what does she know?" But, the tone of his voice made it increasingly obvious that he knew exactly what it was about.

Dovewing nodded slightly. It was true, she was only a kit, but she was in StarClan now. Who knows what it was like up there! Blizzardflower had visited her last time and she seemed full of stardust and her eyes looked like they had no emotion. Maybe StarClan knew more than the average cats?

Risingspirit gave a shiver of discontent. He hated his dead sister, and wouldn't let her rule his life! He looked at Dovewing with determined, but disturbed eyes. "I'm not going to let her do anything to get to me, I promise." He looked down, eager to get off the subject, but just sat there.

Dovewing purred as he said that. It gave her hope. She licked his chest and smiled at him sweetly.

Risingspirit blinked and looked at her, sort of abashed. His usual tuft of fur that stuck up, happened to be on his shoulder this time, so he tried to get that to stick down, licking at it with fervor. It wouldn't go down, so he stopped trying and smiled back at Dovewing.

Dovewing felt embaressed at him then turned away shyly. She muttered something under her breath, which she couldn't even work out then closed her eyes.
