Sparkpaw followed Shinestar, his tail lashing in anticipation. Soon we'll have some territory of our own!

Jaykit's tail flicked with annoyance. "Why can't I go fight?" she mewled. "I want to help get us a home!"
Runningsong, who was stocking herbs, purred with amusement. "You're too little. But someday you'll be an apprentice and can fight for your Clan." She turned to her apprentice. "Whisperingpaw, some warriors will be wounded after this. What should we use to prevent infection?" she prompted.

[Silvene]

Whisperingpaw thought for a moment. She hasn't been a medicine cat apprentice for very long but she has been trying to hardest to memorize the herbs. "Marigold" She hoped she was right

[astro!]

Runningsong purred. "Yes, marigold is the most common treatment to prevent infection, well done," she mewed. She stepped aside from the piles of herbs. "Could you sort the marigold and horsetail for me, please?"

[Silvene]

Whispering nodded and got to work on the pile. She put the bright yellow marigold in one pile and the bristly horsetail in another.

[astro!]

Runningsong felt a surge of pride in her apprentice; Whisperingpaw was going to make a wonderful medicine cat. She only hoped that Whisperingpaw wouldn't have too many injured cats to heal today.... She shivered. "I hope we win the territory," she murmured, half to herself.

Jaykit bounded over to Whisperingpaw, looking up at her wide-eyed. "Are there going to be cats hurt?"

[Silvene]

Whisperingpaw smiled at the kit. "Probably but hopefully nothing serious. I bet some of them want a good scar or two. They seem to gloat about it!"

[astro!]

Jaykit squealed with excitement. "Then when I'm a warrior, I want to be in an attack like this one!"

[Silvene]

Whispering smiled "I'm sure you'll be in plenty of battles. Being a warrior isn't all about battles though."

[astro!]

Jaykit was quiet for a second, then mewed, "But isn't that what warriors are for?"

[Silvene]

"They keep the clan running. They hunt, help the leader make decisions, and much more. You'll find out more as a apprentice." Whisperingpaw meowed.
