"Okay," said Mintwind. "You're an apprentice, then. Where do you come from?"
"I was born on the streets. Cats were wild and uncilviliezed. I didn't know who my father was-'One of a dozen possibles and not much for hanging around' goes the proverb- and my mother was dead. So I had to cope by myself. "Then Twolegs came and caught me, put me in a place with lots of other cats in cages. The cats said that after a while, cats would disappear to some horrible fate. "So I escaped, and came here," he finished.

hm...I never though two legs would something like that. Eh like they could destroy a whole forest. mused Ashenwind in his thoughts. Snowstream kept on chasing a rabbit, he finally killed it.
Mintwind led him over to the freshkill pile. Poor thing, she thought. He hasn't eaten for a week at least. "Here," she said. "Have a squirrel. Or maybe a rabbit." He frowned. "Squirrel? I've had mouse..." He took one and began to devour it.

Snowstream dragged the rabbit into camp. He mumbled " Yesh this thing is heavy, what do they eat? Rats?" He dropped the rabbit at the fresh-kill pile. He walked over to Ashenwind mewing " Who's the new cat?" " Sandy." he relied.
"Alright," said Mintwind. "This is where you'll sleep, the apprentice den. That's Wolfpaw," she pointed at a sleeping grey she-cat, "and that's Willowpaw," she gestured towards the silver she-cat, who looked up then quickly away. "Just go to sleep."

Firefleck smiled warmly at her. "You're having kits? Congradulations!" she mewed.

"HI!" Wolfpaw jumped up. "You're Sandpaw! My mother is your mentor. And guess what? Willowpaw L-I-K-E-S-mphm" Wolfpaw's mouth was once again covered by Willowpaw's tail. - "Yes, I am," Nightbird said cautiously. She would not tell who the father of these kits was.
