I hear the yell behind me, and my body clenches with shock and slight terror. I then, all in the same moment, recognise the voice, belonging to my mare, Sundance. I skid to a halt, and faces her, the wind blowing my thick mane in the exact direction I don't want to blow. In my face. I don't make a move to try and get it out of the way, knowing them efforts would be wasted, as the wind would just blow it back in my face.
I rear up slightly, my hooves pawing the air, though carefully as to not hit the palomino mare in front of me. I land heavily, feeling the ground shudder very slightly under my weight. I swish my wavy tail,
"You almost got me worried then."
I say calmly, my eyes swiftly surveying the area behind her. I know she was just kidding, but I check anyway. I shake my head, there are no wolves in this area anyway, they either became extinct, wandered into that never ending field of toxic grass and died, or went over to the Dark side. It's kind of strange that they went over to the Dark side, they would definitely have more luck finding prey over this side, but whatever. I'm not going to complain about that, if they want to starve themselves then that is their problem. Perhaps they only like the taste of bitter, starving horses, or maybe the stuff that us Light horses eat poisons them? This is one of those things that you can think about for hours and still not know the answers. The only way in getting those answers is to ask them yourself, though I doubt that will end well at all. Also, that would mean crossing the borderline, which I am definitely not going to do.
I swivel my ears around, breathing slowly. My eyes falls on Sundance, noticing how beautiful her coat shines in the sunlight. I dip my head down, and nips at some grass, taking little bits at a time and chewing slowly. That's the way to do it, savour every bite. If the Dark horses weren't so shallow minded, then they could have joined the Light side, but their bad ways would cast a dark shadow over this place, and nobody wants that to happen. Although we Light horses may seem like docile, non-fighters, we get very aggressive to protect our land, and although there is no 'leader' of any of the sides, everyone takes responsibility in protecting it against the Dark side. That's how it has always worked, and the same with the Dark side, though I don't think they are too fussy about who comes over, as long as they hate Light horses. But I don't know, I have never spoken to one, nor do I plan to.
