Neck arched, breathing evenly through my wide, flared nostrils, I trot, my knees lifting high. I ignore all the pretty scenery, leaves, grass plants, you name it. I have had enough to eat today, and I am much more concerned with travelling. I want to explore every inch of this land, though I feel too intimidated by the Dark side to ever venture over there.
My long, wavy mane flows by my side, my forelock coming down neatly over my bright green eyes. I don't worry about predators, I never have. The only predators I have ever seen on this side are much too weak to hunt a fully grown horse, they are more likely to hunt down a rabbit or whatever other small animals that roam this place.
I raise my head, halting, seeing the mysterious foggy forest ahead of me. That is another place I had never explored, though it seems familiar. As if I had once travelled through the forest, though I suspect it is a memory from my ancestors. My parents were very wise, and I learned a lot in that short three months I had with them, they always told me the story of our ancestors.
They said there were once a species named 'Humans' and they once over-populated this world. They were very greedy, always figuring out ways to do things using technology. But they went too far, inventing things that destroyed the world. The debris let out harmful gasses that killed off all of the human race, including most animals. Horses were the few types of animals to live, and for a while the whole world was completely covered in fog. Of course, something else happened when the humans were alive, all of the continents of the Earth moved, coming together, fitting like a jigsaw puzzle. The humans named this form 'Pangaea', and that is what it is known as now. My parents explained how all of the cities in Pangaea collapsed, leaving behind tones of bricks, which eventually eroded over time, but there was one city left. For some mysterious reason, anything past the city is dead, perhaps the worst of the gasses travelled over there and killed everything plant-like. A few horses lived over there, having adapted specially to their environment. The side opposite the Dark side, the Light side, seemed to have been positively affected by the gasses, everything growing perfectly, the colours much more brighter than natural. Horses lived here as well, feeding off the rich plants, and drinking from the fresh water.
However, my parents explained that not all horses were in the Light or Dark side, as the Light and Dark side is only half of Pangaea. The other half is unknown, some say it is covered in fog, all of the waste gasses lying there, though nobody can ever be sure. Beyond this forest, is a huge field of bright green grass. There is no trees, no bushes, no water, just bright green grass. The grass is poisonous, and anything that eats it instantly dies. There is no life on that field, some horses have dared to explore it, but they got disorientated and forgot their way back to the foggy forest. They have never returned. My parents thought that this field covers quarter of the other half of Pangaea, and the last quarter is simply fog. Horses trapped in that fog fled, terrified, few of them actually escaped the fog and found themselves on the green field. The smarter ones went forward, not taking any turns, though others ventured elsewhere and eventually died.
The horses that went forward came across this foggy forest, and decided to go through it, before finally reaching the Light side. Some of these horses got drawn to the Dark side, so moved there and quickly learned to despise the Light side. The Light side horses didn't allow Dark side horses to join them, thinking they are filled with so much hate, and it will ruin the happiness and peace of the Light side. Rarely would a Dark side horse allow a Light side horse join their side, unless that horse proved to be hateful and bitter. Why horses would move over to the Dark side is beyond me. Here, no matter what happens, I can lead a long, happy life with all the food and water I'll ever need. I have heard the Dark side is a constant struggle to find clean water and decent food.
I step away from the forest, not wanting to explore that area just yet. I turn on my heels and gallops back into the meadows, neighing loudly, ears perked. I wonder silently if there is any horses nearby, it does get lonely travelling alone, and it is always good to meet someone new.
