Whisper
Whisper holds her breath as Ebony approaches his stressed mother, uncertain of how Shadow will react. When the black mare accepts him, calling out to him with a high pitched whinny, she lets out her captive breath in a happy sigh. Smiling a bit, she takes a few steps forward, looking over Shadow and Cadet. "Are... Are you alright?" She asks, uncertain of what exactly to say in such a situation. For that matter, Whisper isn't even sure she should stay. After all, Shadow didn't seem all that happy that she was around, before all this excitement happened, and Whisper is defiantly not the type to challenge a lead mare. However, she hangs nearby the trio, waiting to be cast out rather than going on her own. She noses curiously at the ferns and other woodland vegetation, wondering just what it tastes like, but far to cautious to eat something so odd.
Reggie
Reggie smiles and nickers softly as he watches Saphira slowly relax, nickering softly to her as she gets closer. "See? Not so bad..." He dips his head once again to the sweet grass, nibbling at it. He paces slowly around the mare as he grazes, until he is nose to tail with her, just a few feet away. He falls into the routine easily, though he hasn't been in a herd for a long time, there is something in him that remembers the comfort of knowing that someone is watching out for you. Keeping an eye out on whatever may be coming up from behind. Lifting his head to chew, and shake out his mane, Reggie catches Saphira's eye as she looks up at him, and he can't help but smile again at her around his mouthful of grass. However, he doesn't say anything, instead enjoying her silent company. What could be better than this? He thinks, turning back to his eating until he is satisfied.
Finished, he looks out onto the empty hills as Saphira finishes her meal. His words seem even more true in the dim predawn light, as there is hardly even a sprig of grass to be seen on the dark side, and on the light side, there is nothing besides rolling hills of green grass. Though he knows this area well, Reggie also knows from first hand experience why the land is so desolate. Nothing on this planet is certain anymore, and areas where light meets dark is in a constant state of flux. It is quite possible that this meadow could be gone tomorrow, the land covered in sticky, stinking mud with sickly mists hiding the stars. Or, it could have shifted in the opposite direction, the pollutants receding and little boggy vale just below them could be covered in new spring's shoots. This is why we should take what we can, when we can. Who knows if it will be here tomorrow? Even the lights should understand that. If they don't there is little they can do to stop me... He looks back to Saphira then, a warmth spreading over him as he looks over her sleek form. Not me... Us.
Shaking himself out of his revery, Reggie walks over to the mare, dipping his head to meet her eyes as she still grazes. "So, you thirsty? The stream we crossed to get here is as foul as anything on the dark side, but just beyond that hill is a little brook full of sweet water that meets it. Would you like to take a look?" He makes his offer hopefully, doing nothing to hide the happiness in his voice.
