Pebblestream was scared to death. Her pelt was soaked and she had tripped and sprained her paw right after Ferndapple died. She nuzzled closer to Gorseclaw who was walking solemnly and proud even after a death. She whispered to him, "Why is Starclan hurting us. We did nothing wrong, right?" She said her eyes almost to tears.

"I..Don't know..I'll ask Leafstar. Stay back here." Gorseclaw said reassuringly. He padded forward and walked beside Leafstar. "Leafstar? Why is Starclan hurting us, when we did nothing wrong?" he asked.

Jaypaw, slightly startled from willowpaws yowl, jumped up but then he said to her "Things grow back, fires die out, and something tells me that it will all work out."
