¤ Moonlily ¤
As Moonlily stood at the top of a hill leading down into Snowclan territory, she couldn’t help but feel a lump in her throat as she breathed in the more than welcome scents of home. It had been moons since she had last seen her beloved territory, and her heart lifted at the familiar sights and sounds of home. Taking another deep breath as she started to move on, Moonlily picked her way down the hill on three paws, wincing and mewing pitifully every time she need to put her bad foot down, or she overextended her body and scabs pulled against delicate new skin. Stopping many times between her camp and the border, she made her way slowly towards home, finally stopping beside a stream to try and groom herself. She licked carefully at her white, matted fur, knowing she would never get all the tangles and burrs out on her own, but trying her best not to show up looking like something to give the kits nightmares. Finally deciding she had done the best she could, she heaved herself up again on three legs, and hobbled into the camp, letting out a joyful yowl as she did so, ignoring the worrying thought that it was possible she would not be welcome home.
¤ Heartsong ¤
Heartsong steadied herself with her tail as she steadied herself on the low branch of a thick bush. There was a mouse right below her, and she could smell it. Taking a deep breath, whiskers twitching, she parted the leaves of the branch with her paws, peering down at the animal. Deciding that she could get it, she leapt down quickly, claws extended, landing with a soft thump and the loud squeal of a mouse before picking it up by the tail, and adding it to the couple of birds and rabbit that she had caught. Deciding she was finished, she stuffed her jaws full of prey, and started back to camp, jumping violently when she heard the long forgotten yowl of a lost Clan-mate.
