OH MY FIPPIN DOLPHINS!!!!!!!!!! I hate gping on a 'family uniting' holiday vacation! XO There is no internet 'out in the frontier' ande I hate going. 13 hour drive in a truck with a queasy 8 year old and the caroling radio that my parents sing to! OMG, the worst is over finally! Jay laid in her den, taking the cold weather with chills. Where is Ajax.... Apollo nestled up in her fur to stay warm,quivering.

Ajax sat alone at the river, watching as the water tumbled over the pebbles. He gazed at his reflection and sighed quietly, beding down to lap up a few cool drops.

April sighed and she carried drifter along with her. Once she had reached Dustin she lowered her head before looking back up at him. "Dustin,...were threw." she said as she tucked Drifter under her soft cream colored tail and she added. "I'm sorry but we are done,...and,..." April stopped not finishing her sentence. What was she doing? She was acting like a wimpy little pup! April stood up her gaze locked with his,she wasn't afraid of him any more and she snapped. "Have fun living in your h*ll of a home,and you know what, If i wanna re-mate then that's just what I'll do because i don't care about you anymore. i'm sick and tired of you hiding away,your not protecting this pack! you've just came out here to get away from it all! you left me and my pups to die out in that pack and you know what? Maybe that's why they were all messed up and confused! Because they didn't have a father, a real father! I'm done with you Dustin." she said and picked Drifter up and walked off. Drifter looked up at April,she could see that she wouldn't be the same anymore and she could definitely tell she wasn't over him but if there was one thing she knew for sure is that they were leaving this pack.

Dustin sat with his back to her, his eyes glazed over in a moony stare at the blank ground. His claws scraped the hard frozen dirt. He whispered. "Finally. I feel an ache in my bones...it is time." He slowly stirred from his ground. He glanced at April. "Long life, but soon we will end, and make way for the future. Our son will be beta now..I am retiring to an elder wolf. April, I know this past season has broght you grief, and I apologize. But I escaped here to stay away from the pack. I feel younger here because I cant feel myself decay here as I do in the pack. And I see you age with me. I remeber the day I met you...thats was so long ago. I was three...now, I'm 9 years old. Mates for 6 years, is a long time. April, stay. You have heritage here, and you have lived your life. Come, you will die alone out there before you see another wolf. Do you not want to wish your pups a good and happy life?" The old beta started to walk home, eager to be at peace.

April heard him and called back to him "Oh stop with the sob story, If living the rest of my days alone,outside and away from the pack means giving Drifter the chance to mature and be happy then so be it. I won't let her end up like me,Confussed with no where to turn. Even if it does mean being away from everyone,even my family. Drifter and I are living and I assure you, I wont be crwling back to you this time, im leaving to the moutains wth her and you or anyone else wont stop me...and may I say, the oncomming beta is not my son, he is yours,..he has your stubborn,cruel personality...he will never be a son of mine,my only pup is Drifter." April flashed her brown eyes over at him for a moment and then trotted off with the pups gently in her mouth. April finally arrived at the moutain and by the time she got there both her pup and her were tired and hungry. April bedded down and she let Drifter nurse as she looked around her new home and she let out a howl,just to make sure she was alone up her. The wind rushed threw Aprils ruffled coat and she curled herself around Drifter,they didnt have a den for now but she was planning on making one tomorrow morning where Drifter,the little loner pup, would be safe.
