She looked at Pan, trying to catch his eye, but he didn't look at her. She sighed inwardly, and stared at him lovingly. She would always admire him from a distance, if nothing else. "Fine, I suppose."

"STOP YOUNG LADY." Layona's voice boomed. "If you don't listen to your alpha you will not get any powers! Try being a loner cub, not fun, trust me. Either apologize or you can forget about it.

Layona's loud voice startled Amala and she just sat, looking at everyone.

"As tradition goes, alpha gets her powers last. Who wishes to be first?" Layona asked, her voice warm.

Pantalimon looked up intrigued. "Can I control the earth? Like move dirt and boulders and stiff?"

Layona's smile widened, "Why sure." She whispered in his ear, "You have a certain someone who likes you lad."

Amala blushed a bright red, barely hearing Layona.

Layona dipped her head and bit her paw. "Earth." She said. "Now Pan, smell the blood."

Kiya raised a lip. She didn't like anyone talking down to her, even elders. "Sorry, Amala." She said, trying to sound genuinely sorry. The prospect of having powers was too good to lose. She lowered her lip, and said "May I be second, after Pan? And I wish I could have powers with emotions, like reading emotions and maybe minds! Or with Ice and Snow, because of my name, Klin Kayi."

Pantalimon sniffed obidently. "Who?" He whispered.

"Me..." whispered Kayi.

Layona chuckled, "Your alpha, she's blushing." She whispered. "Now, try to move these pebbles." She said, louder. "Yes dear, I can give you ice. You may freeze things, but not creatures bigger than a mouse." She gently bit her paw again, "Ice" She whispered. "Now sniff." He looked at Pan as she held out her paw, "How are those pebbles going?"

Amala's lips curled in as she blushed, waiting for Pan to use his powers.

Pantalimon glanced at Amala before trying to move the pebbles. he concentrated hard, and saw them shake a tiny, tiny bit. Amala like me? he asked himself.

Amala walked closer and placed her paw on Pan's, "Push into the Earth, be one with it." She pressed gently and stepped back. She didn't know about Earth... she glanced at Layona, who was chuckling.
