Nate didn't respond to Kourtney, and instead kicked his foot from his right stirrup, swinging his leg over Bud's rump and stepping down from the saddle. Bud snorted, tossing his head up and prancing forward, though Nate held his reins firmly. "I don't know what happened." he said simply to the woman.

Kourtney stared in astonishment. Chance's fits usually lasted a whole session, not just come and go like that. "Oh." She managed, realizing Nate must've heard. She stepped out of the arena, Nate's Stetson still in hand. Now wasn't the time to return it, especially if Bud decided to try again what he'd done just a few minutes ago.

The calf mooed nervously from the other end of the arena. Bud held his head in the air, the reins pulled taunt, before darting forward. Nathan held the reins harder in his hands, digging his heels into the dirt and pulling his horse back, watching him prance a circle around the man. "Enough!" he demanded, frustrated to his limit. Bringing a hand down hard on Bud's flank, he let go of the reins as the stallion bolted away as he was slapped, not wanting to be dragged across the arena. Bud did a small hopping buck, his reins dangerously dangling near the ground and around his front legs, though Nate was already walking after him.

Kourtney watched from outside of the arena, leaning on the fence. She wondered why Bud was so fussy and all today.

Nate grabbed the dangling reins, dragging Bud towards the fence. As the gelding spotted the woman who had jumped into the arena, and had been spending so much time with his owner, he pinned his ears and reared. His hooves almost got Nathan in the face, and he dropped down centimeters from the fence.

Kourtney back up, completely surprised. "Bud, what's wrong boy? something spook you?" Kourtney sighed, handing Nate his Stetson.

Bud whinnied loudly as Kourtney's hand moved out to hand Nathan his hat, reaching out to bite it. Nate pulled the horse away it time, slapping him hard on the neck, watching the gelding throw his head and dance away.

Kourtney tilted her her head, her hand returning to her side. Did Bud not like her or something? Her other hand flew over her stomach, as if she was protecting it from Bud.

Nate opened the gate quickly and drug Bud out. The gelding snorted and kicked out at Kourtney, his hind hoof barely missing her covered stomach. "Cut that out!" The man demanded, yanking down on the reins. He untacked the horse in the mare and gelding pasture, hanging his tack on the fence. Bolting the gate, he headed back to Kourtney. "I'm sorry."

Kourtney gasped, jumping backwards as Bud kicked out.She stared after Bud, puzzled. The woman shook her head as Nate returned. "No, it's fine. It wasn't you're fault." Kourtney protested.
