Graceheart groomed Splashkit's neck.

Frostkit mewled with surprise and rolled over with the weight of him.

Splashkit closed her eyes, purring softly.

Petalfall sat in the window of the barn, tail swishing. The sound of cars raced through her ears, and she hated it. She scowled, not liking the scary barn and the scary twolegs and the scary twoleg monsters. She hopped down on the barn floor and over to Stormtalon. "Do you think we'll ever leave this place?"

Graceheart watched Splashkit in misery. Once you are an apprentice, i'll tell you all about your mother. How she was an amazing warrior, one of the most respected, one of the most feared. I'll tell you all about her.

Noblekit laughed and flopped onto his back. "You can see yet?"

Frostkit shook her head with another mew, shaking him off. She turned to where she expected him to be lying, judging from the direction of his voice.

Splashkit sensed her hesitation and craned her neck back so she could see her expression. "Why are you unhappy?" she asked innocently.

Stormtalon glanced at Petalfall. "Why? Don't you like it here?" He asked calmly, flicking his ears.

Noblekit tilted his head. "Can yew? I no seeeee." he said, opening his mouth wide.

Graceheart closed her eyes. "I can tell you miss your real mother." she whispered.

Petalfall shrugged. "No, I mean, yes, but... that's it. It's perfect. But there's nothing going on, no something to fix, only mean twolegs and their monsters, but we can't fix that."

Goldkit followed Frostkit over to Noblekit, "Hello No'lekit wanna play?" She squeeked.

Noblekit smiled. "Okay!" he said, then ran in circles. "What play?"

"My...real...mother," Splashkit had heard stories, but wasn't sure what to believe. She'd been skeptically about Graceheart being her mother, but now she had just confirmed her suspicions.

Frostkit opened her mouth, attempting to form a word. "N-n...n...no." she responded to Noblekit's question, then turned to her sister and nodded.

Stormtalon sighed. "Isn't it good that there aren't any problems? If there's nothing to fix, there must not be anything bad happening."
