Leopardbelly cracked open her eyes to look around the camp. She saw Hazelclaw cleaning her excited kits, Cloudnose cleaning his paws, Lynxbound entering the camp with freshkill, and Ashstar talking with Brackentail. She purred softly as she saw nothing was going wrong and she continued to sun bathe in the light.

Ripplepaw had finished eating and noticed her mentor had come out of the den. She smiled at him and went up to him. He still looked tired but Ripplepaw reminded herself that he had gotten up early. When she was near him, she asked, "Is there anything I can do for you Cloudnose?"

"Waahhh!" Firekit yowled. He hadn't even remembered about becoming an apprentice. Curse his short term memory! Scrambling to Waterkit. "You got the motherly cleaning too, huh?" He chuckled with amusement. "We're going to be apprentices! It's going to be so cool! Although I have to admit I'm not looking forward to mouse bile duties that the apprentices constantly complain about."

Cloudnose nodded. "I think I left some marigold in the cave that's not put away. could you go put with the rest of the supply, Ripplepaw?"

Waterkit looked at his brother. "But there's battle training, hunting and patrols," he said excitedly. He was nearly bouncing as he said it.

Hazelclaw had let Waterkit go and she picked up Windkit. "This will be really quick," she said as she licked out the small pieces of dirt from her pelt.

Ripplepaw nodded. "Yes, I'll go put it away right away!" She ran off eagerly to the medicine cat den. Looking around, She almost immediately found the marigold where Cloudnose had put it. She started to put up the marigold where it needed to be placed.

Windkit didn't mind the rasping of her mother's tongue. She purred with joy, and as Hazelclaw set her down, she pattered back to her siblings. She was just in time to hear Waterkit. "I can't wait for my first battle." She mewed quietly, her tail thrashing.

"It really sucks that with everything good, there's something bad to go with it" Firekit meowed, wrinkling his nose. "But its still cool to become an apprentice anyway! I'll be the best warrior ever!" He yowled excitedly. constantly looking out the nursery, he hoped that the leader would call their names already. He felt like if he had to wait another minute, he would blow up from anticipation. He flicked his ear at Windkit. "Me neither. Other cats will fear my name and will never bother our clan once I show them!" There was a gleam in Firekit's eyes as he said it.

Ashstar surveyed the camp one last time before climbing up the Rock Pile. His tail waved in excitement, as he always loved these kind of ceromonies. He stared down at his clan, and smiled. He didn't bother calling the clan together, as they were already here. "Waterkit, Windkit, Firekit and Lightkit, step forward."

At the sound of the kit's name, Leopardbelly rolled off her back and sat up straight so she could see the ceremony. She liked watching these ceremonies. It make her remember when she was becoming an apprentice. She purred and wrapped her tail around her paws at the thought.

Ripplepaw, hearing Ashstar's voice, hurridly put up the last of the marigold and ran out into the clearing, sitting beside her mentor.

Lynxbound padded over closer to the center of camp and sat down. He wrapped his tail around his paws. He did enjoy watching the youngsters of the Clan become apprentices. He glanced over at the four excited kits and smiled at their happiness.

Windkit felt a tremor run through her tiny body. She would be an apprentice!! Looking back at Hazelclaw, she gingerly stepped forwards with her siblings, feeling the eyes of the Clan upon her. Her tail shook with nerves now, what if she did something stupid?

Waterkit began to run forward and then thought about it quickly before slowing down to a dignified walk. He got to the Highrock, sat down, and looked up at Ashstar with clear green eyes.

Hazelclaw watched her kits go up to the Highrock and small tear ran down her face. She knew it was time for them to grow up but she still would sometimes wish they could remain kits forever.

Streamtail got from where she had been sitting and walked briskly over to the Highrock, she sat down and looked first at the kits and then at Ashstar. She waited silently for the ceremony to begin.

Cloudnose walked toward the Highrock and sat down in front, facing the clan, but a little to the side, leaving that place for Brackentail. He glanced at Ripplepaw and then turned his attention back to the clan.

Brackenclaw heard the announcement and walked over to the cave entrance. He sat down and watched the proceedings with interest, wondering what might happen, seeing as things could happen at any time.
